put half your car up the kerb on a bit of grass, leave the other wheel on the road, then plant it (not on your own lawn obviously ) and see what happens, open wheeler should just tear the grass to pieces..
Thats just an option, i don't tear up lawns and i wouldnt recommend it, unless its council grass ;)

jack the rear up with both wheels off the ground and spin the drivers side forward. if the passenger side goes backwards non lsd and if it goes forward lsd

The last stated method definitely tells you nothing whatsoever apart from the fact your differential (open or LSD) is providing its intended differential action.
The idea that it distinguishes LSD from open was debunked in the thread to which Mike directs you, among other places.
