Hi all, A few Soarer owners have been burnt by a seller on eBay going by the name of wonderfulwitch12. So far, 5 Soarer owners have left negative feedback for this seller. We've all got his bank account details and made payment. Since then, we've had no contact and no items arrive. Negative feedback and disputes have been opened regarding this seller with eBay. Are any of the other buyers that got burnt members of this forum?

hey guys, yeh this wonderfulwitch12 guy got me for $197.50, bought a set of "pedders springs and shocks" off him. i dont think its the actual account holder thats pulling this scam, who ever it is he probably figured that with a 100% feedback history people will bid with confidence and so he might as well pull of a scam and walk away with some easy money. guys seriously.. the most annoying thing is that this clown thinks he can just take peoples money and walk away without a problem ok so anyway.. as far as things go we have his bank details, i think john managed to get his phone number and his address, and im not sure if this helps but there was a picture of the soarer that this guy apparently had the shocks and springs that i bought off him installed on - the number plate was 1JZ-250, for all i know it could be some random pic this guy pulled from some where.. or he could actually be dumb enough to photograph his actual car with his plates showing so exactly what options do we have?

adrain mate if the guy lived any where near me i would have paid him a visit by now but apparently he lives in tassie, and this guy didnt offer paypal so we all pretty much paid him through bank deposit. i think the only buyer protection we have is what ever ebay offers us (which is not much anyway)

Looks like a Hi-jacking to me. With a ebay name like Wonderfulwitch and the last two items before the Soarer items being "How To Turn Your Ex-Boyfriend Into A Toad.,&Other Spell" and "0.3mm 9ct GOLD round wire - 50cm" I would say that the account holder probably doesn't sell Soarer parts! Exercise caution when following up and go through ebay/paypal (as painful as their process is) to sort it out. Usually Hi-Jackings are done with obvious high priced items. Like you'll see an ebayer who has sold plant pots for three years and then suddenly have 5 Roland drum kits for sale at 5 grand a pop. Those are really obvious. Perhaps the crooks are learning and getting smarter by focusing on niche small priced goods.... Or there could be another rational explanation, it might be the person's partner and there has been a death in the family, or the partner split the relationship and now doesn't have access to the account. They didn't pay their internet account and have been deactivated, etc etc....Any number of things may have happened. The only right process is disputing it through ebay and paypal as appropriate. |

I know where this guy lives and where the car is located as i bought a few parts off him out of the paper as the car has been in a wreak. And i was after stuff for my soarer he seamed like a great guy my dealing with him were face to face and no problems. All the soarer parts listed were on the car and i know that suspension came from that car along with other parts listed on ebay as i saw the cooler hks extra injector pipe and other peices there so i believe that he is trading under this name and if anyone from tassie wants to pay him a visit pm and i will call you with his details

If you have the guy's bank details, you have his real name. www.whitepages.com might help with an address. Police will definately be interested if there is a decent amount of people all willing to make statements, as this is obvious online fraud. Hijacked ebay account or not, your not paying money into the ebay account, your paying moneys into a bank account, which is both traceable and potentially reversable as well. For decent sums of money, it could also be worth speaking to the bank about a reversal, my bank charges me $60 for a transaction reversal, and for large prices items that dont come to me, it doesn't hurt to know that kind of insurance is there. I would be speaking with the majority of the people who have been burnt, getting a list of names, addresses, and contact phone numbers of these people, and passing the information to the police. Let the police collect statements 1 by 1, and piece together the evidence, and then pay this chap a visit. BTW, for anyone buying from him face to face, of course he is going to be nice, he cant just grab your money and vanish when your standing in front of him, but he has tried to do exactly this through the internet. Just get the police involved, many small frauds equate to a big fraud. B.

Not that it appears to be the case with this particular situation, you should be careful in assuming that if you pay into a bank account the person is traceable. Surely you would have come across the many junk emails offering you the chance to earn $3000 a month in 'commissions' for simply receiving funds for an offshore company who apparently cannot open a bank account in Aus. All you need to do to earn your commissions is to send the money via Western Union to their 'business' in Romania. This scam is used concurrently with a eBay hijacker who gives you the bank details of one of these poor saps who then transfers the money via western union which is so untraceable its not funny. When the eBay hijack scam is uncovered it is traced to the poor gullable sap in the middle who is subsequently arrested for money laundering. However the purchaser is still out of pocket and the scammer is laughing all the way to the Western Union Office. Sad, but all too true. |

The name of the bank account holder, I looked up in the White pages, which led me to a guy in Bellerive. Which when I called, apparently I got the right number. But he wasn't home. White pages only listed 1st and 2nd initial. When I asked for "Mark" (Same first name), he apparently wasn't at home at the time. The bank account and the white pages had the same 2nd initial also. Co-incidence??? Then Michael tells us, the guy he got parts off was in Glenorchy. Michael, was the guy's name Mark?

Gregg is right guys, you can only do the Ebay process. You'll probably find it hard to track someone down anyway, and sending a posse around is really only going to cause you more crap in the long run. No matter how much money you got ripped, it's not up to you to go paying people visits and getting your "revenge". It might feel good at the time, but I'd rather be down $100 than have an assault charge against my name.

Got an e-mail back from eBay after asking what was going on. They advised that they would NOT contact authorities on behalf of a member. WTF??? Then they directed me to report it to the Police. Well, I'm in the process of filling out the necessary info now. The link is here http://www.police.qld.gov.au/programs/crimePrevention/eCrime/internet/report/03/tasmania.htm Report it if you too got burnt.
