why you going to epa when you can go to a aproved exhaust dealer...... i had a 3"inch pipe from turbo back no cat and a screamer pipe straight to atmosphere when i got an epa letter took it to tidd bros in newport and for $500 bucks got a muffler, hi flow cat and screamer pipe plumbed back to exhaust plus certificate good deal i think was looking at $2000 to rectify in Mornington

Luciano,
My EPA letter stipulates that i have a choice of two EPA approved mechanics i HAVE TO visit. I gave them a call and they said they have to do a full check which will take up to 2hrs. They said the car should be stock inc. standard air box...

Yeah, i wasn't to happy with 8db over...
They also picked me up on having an emanage blue, despite my emissions being excellent (.4% when you are allowed up to 4.5%) and the EPA tester even agreeing aftermarket computers can improve standard ECUs.
If anyone has a standard exhaust i can borrow please let me know...thanks again

No offence but your stupid for going to EPA with a tune-able ECU, it's like going there with a BOV mounted on your roof with 100 neon arrows pointing at it.

Maurice, agreed, but the law actually states that you cannot have an ECU, unless it does'nt considerably affect the emissions of the car. In my defence, my emissions were excellent and I thought it was worth a try, especially when i have to take apart about 20+ soldered wires...

Yeah, I've been EPA'd heaps of times and each time I've removed the EMB, best bet is to buy a plug in harness, saves you having to remove it wire by wire each time. It's the best money I've ever spent.
Also, I've passed all the EPA tests with 440's overfueling badly on stock ECU with flying colours so don't be worried if in future you have 440's and think you need to remove them to pass the test.
Cheers.
PS - In all my visits to the EPA, they never once checked my ECU, dunno why, I found it weird.

Sorry Justin, I have a custom cat-back made up with about 4954848438383 restrictive mufflers in it, It passes the test with 79db lol. You are welcome to borrow it if you like however I doubt it'll be a direct fit to your car without modifications because I have a custom exhaust and my cat is prob in a slightly different location to your cat ect.
