I think it's 78L tank, I did know but aren't 100% sure, it's either 76L or 78L, the same size tank in all 30 series Soarers.

Yer 78-80 sounds right. Your fuel gauge isnt working :-O that would be a pain seeing because if you drive hard the soarers can drink like a camel.

oh yes ....they do...fuel gauge isn't working...tried cleaning the senders....no result....i tried changing the dashboard meter...not working too...one guy suggested to change the sender and meter together...and that would cost a bomb....maybe just need to add in an external fuel gauge from other cars or aftermarket gauges.

Just buy another one from a wrecker, then clean it thoroughly before installation and you should be right for another few years.

Except the JZZ31, which is only 70 litres.

Matthew is correct. JZZ31's from 9/97 - 12/2000 had a 68L tank.

ALL other 30 series Soarers have the 78L tank from 91 - 2000.

with the current fuel price in Malaysia....RM2.55....it will cost about RM200 for a full tank....and probably gives me around 600KM....

Anyway...do you think there would be a sender-meter mismatch....?

Mate, 95 octane is the equivalent of RM5.40 here! Can't get 98 locally.

ya...but we are a net exporter of high grade petroleum...it was at RM1.92.....suddenly shot up to RM2.70 and now at RM2.55...and the gov just announced that they are bringing it further down...keeping my fingers crossed.

I'm curious about 68 litres for our car as I filled the other day when the fuel gauge hit half and it took 40.75 litres. I know fuel gauges are usually inaccurate, but on Norfolk I let it run down to quarter and less at times (we were never more than 2 litres from a fill) and it usually took about 55-58 litres. Never once saw the fuel light come on in the '97 although it did a couple of times on the '95.

One thing I've noticed with the later Soarer is that when we don't use it much the economy really drops (like 5-5.5km/litre) and I wonder if it's not evaporating. Here we go 3 months without filling...

Yeah... we had a Levin on Norfolk in 2000, with the 20v 4AGE engine. Went away on holidays, came back in a month or so, the car pinged like crazy just getting out of the drive. Was OK after I topped it up with fresh fuel.

By 2004 all unleaded to Norfolk was HULP although don't know the octane.

We can't get 98 here so when I go to Carnarvon I fill up jerries of it.

As expected the fuel price is down by another 10 cents per litre....now its RM2.45 per litre. Hope it goes down further. :-)

When I had old fuel in my GSX750 it backfired like a bitch... awesome crackles when you're slowing down in low gears, complete with 6 inch flames from the Yoshi pipe... I miss that thing.

I once had a Yamaha XS750 triple in which I installed a Wiseco 850 kit. The electric start wouldn't turn over and it pinged badly on hills no matter what octane boosters I put in it (using leaded fuel!). Probably should have retarded the ignition a tad.

Funnily enough I saw the bike about 12 years after I sold it, in a shed on Norfolk Island:-)
