Has anyone ever translated the text on the driver's sun visor? I always just thought it was boring safety legal stuff they are required to have there, but the other day I noticed the bit's I've underlined. 5000kms, 10W-30, 10000kms.
Maybe... Change oil every 5000 with 10W-30 and replace oil filter every 10000kms?
Also, ignore the cigarette burns from the careless previous owner.

Ours looks pretty grungy too. I have the original Japanese manual, and it recommends 5W-20 weight oil, or 5W-30 as an alternative. Of course, ours is later VVTi '97. Needless to say, I don't use 5W-20 as it's a) way too expensive and b) not all that good for hot climates and c) not available anywhere anyway! I have enough trouble getting the thicker oil, locally, usually stock up when I'm in the city.

Translation:
"Warning: Reading this placard whilst driving can lead to severely degraded sensory perception of the road ahead and can increase the chances of collision. Read this placard only whilst vehicle is stationary on a flat level surface with the emergency brake engaged.
Oh, and service your car with 10W30 oil every 5000kms and change the filter every 10000kms."

I always change the filter when i do the oil anyway
Me too, what's the point of putting nice new oil into a system with a filter full of crap and old oil? I often end up doing changes before 5k anyway, as our Soarer is lucky to do 5k km annually.
These labels and warning signs are a tad annoying (especially when they end up grubby, like the sunvisor one does, for some reason). The Rexton has warning signs everywhere!, a damn eyesore. Thankfully Soarers have relatively few.
