Hey i thought i would finally post my injured soarer up, as a couple of you already know i was rear ended last wednesday night and dam all i can say is soarers are a strong car. The holden station wagon that hit me fully wrote off his car, his bonnet was pushed right up to to wind screen but unfortunatly didnt get any pics of his car but i will post some pics of mine and as you can see not as much damage as i would have thought from how hard the commodore hit me. i have already got one quote back from a panel beater of 11 grand which i think my car will be a write off from that but anyway here are some pics of what happened and please any comments and advise will be appreciated and also any perth people please let me know of any tt soarers or tt supra for sale as this is looking like a write off, so i will be looking for a new car soon and also very interested in a chaser or vvti soarer cheers.

11k is definatly a write off.
Isn't it usually if the repairs cost more than 50% of the value of a car then it is written off.
In that case most soarers would be written off if damage was more than $4-5k.

am i aloud to do that because if its wriiten off doesnt that mean the car is not aloud on the roads again
Two types of write offs: Statuatory Write-off - means the car is beyond repair and never to be re-registered again.
Economic/Repairable Write-off - means the car is not so badly damaged that it can't be safely repaired BUT the cost of doing so is not financially viable.

With a rear ender accident anyway why would you want to rebuild it? It's not like Soarers are rare and by reusing the car you run the risk that the rear wheels, axle etc are out of alignment causing knock on effects.
Jordon, check your insurance policy quickly to see what was covered that isn't stock, then whatever isnt covered rip out of the car before the insurance company gets their hands on it. If its covered under the policy then they are entitled to take all the bits away, however if its not standard and not covered then you can just replace them with the standard bits if you wanted to keep stuff (ie, the wheels)

Hey Jordon, sorry man. Especially after seeing the damage. I think yours is an economic write off but look at what callum says, thats what I was trying to explain because otherwise you will lose all this good stuff!
Also 12 grand or so will get you a real nice soarer these days.
Callum why is this up to Jordons insurance company if he was rear ended because I think he only has 3rd party?

mate it sucks to have a car written off with so little damage, but if you have insurance then go the dollar value. Its a shame but you can pick up a nice example with little cash these days.

I wouldn't want to keep it after a hit like that Jordon. Even if you fix it, it will never be the same ever, with it crippled into the tyre well and fenders. Sad to see.
Good luck with insurance, hope you get back on the road with another one soon!

Sorry to see this Jordon!
A shame how much internal damage there is, from the outside at a quick glance the damage doesn't look too bad...
My V8 being hit in the rear 1/4 was a wake up call to how easy accidents happen. Just a simple trip to the hardware store for some bits to work on my car and then that happened! I'm lucky its being fixed but as we speaking I'm buying a A-B car thats decent enough to do the dirty driving work during the busy week so it can allow my V8 to be reserved for the much quieter roads during weekends.

Thanks guys for all your comments and advice but unfortenetly i have only got third party and the guy that hit me is taking his sweet ass time on putting a claim through and this happened a week ago now so im starting to get very edgy. but on the other side have been going out looking at other soarers and found nothing i like and there is not many soarers on the market in wa at the moment, so im looking at another car instead of soarers which i know is sad but it is reality for me at the moment and looking for a car that i can insure properly because after this is all sorted i want comprahensive insurance.
Cheers guys
