In Clarkson's 'Clarkson Thriller' DVD - an off shoot of the usual TG shenanigans in this part he tests out the LS400 saying how boring and unexciting he finds it.

He's not wrong, I liked my Celsior but there was just no excitement in it, above all it was like a briefcase - bland and just did its job well.

I actually compared it directly through test driving some Soarers in 2007. Side by side the Soarer was so much more interesting, gave you that feeling you just wanted to get in it and go for a drive, I then wondered to myself why do I have this Celsior instead of a Soarer? so that's when the idea to sell it came along, which soon after happened and I got back into a Soarer.

Anyway heres the video. It's hilarious, though I think shooting the LS400 was a bit nasty even though they are worth next to nothing in the UK now days. He could have done something more interesting, like try kill it on a race track or something? But anyway!

HAHA :-)

That army vehicle was brilliant!

How can he go on about the ls400 being boring? Has he not driven a '90's era c class for example? Not only are they just as boring to drive but they are built poorly and are unreliable, given the choice I know what I'd prefer.

Yeah, I drove by one of those today and thought, why would he not pick on something as horrible as these 90's C/E classes. They are some of the worst from Germany.

I think hes just getting at the fact the Lexus LS400 is just the care free choice someone thats not to fussed about their car would go for, which compared to the more interesting competitors is far cheaper and more reliable, it just lacks the flare the European cars have, and of course the badge.

Maybe he finds it's perfection above the others too much?

Theres no doubting they are a terrific car for their intended purpose - I guess he is just too used to sports cars to find something like an LS400 interesting or sporty - which they aren't meant to be.

Who would know. :-)
