well i sold the auto out of my car, and the buyer is saying it has no second gear. when in fact i know the box was fine, cause i had a tune done in sydney a few weeks before. and it had no problem doing that, and i drove it around for a few weeks after i got it back from syd, then pulled box out and sent it of.
no what would you do? it has shift kit, and high torque converter i believe, as it would break traction before it would stall out. and that was about 2800.
now i know them items are worth some money, he only paid 400 for the box.. what are your thoughts..
how do i know he did not stuff something up when fitted it? not adjust cable before taking it for a drive, and burnt second?

Could it be solenoid related? or is 2nd gear non existent?
I know Michael wouldnt deliberately sell a dodgy box, have dealt with him in the past and currently am as well. Incorrect fluid used? Damage to solenoids during transportation?

If i were in your shoes,
I will stick to my story and wait it out. Its his responsibility to ensure that the installation was carried out correctly ie by a mechanic, you should not be liable for backyard jobs. And if it was ask for a receipt name and phone number. Call him ask more questions. Second gear missing once he installed it or further down the track and again stick to your story. If was fine when i pulled it out.
If he still persist, there not much you can do, get angry, be a bitch and say its a second hand product, it has not been used for a while but has been working prior to removal. You did not offer any guarantees or warranty on the product. And it was working when you took it out. You stuff up the install etc

yes he said he is a mechanic, and it will engage second, but just slip.s and wont drive at all he checked all soilenoids and they ok, and getting 9v to them. so i just dont know, i know it was 100% in working order when i took it out,
that is why i asked for your advice.
i think i will offer 100 refund, and that the best i will do, cause the valve body is worth something and so is converter, is there any other reason why it would not have second.. he did say that the changed the line pressure cable. is that a easy job? maybe he forgot something to be put back in.. or bumped something.. are all soarer auto's the same? all year models?

yes that is what my thoughts are as well, but he said it came from another soarer auto. is there different parts numbers maybe? but yeah all other gears are fine just second he said
do you have to pull the valve body out to, change the line cable?

well he has obviously opened it up and had to fiddle. hte fact it was working with yours means you didnt sell him a dodgy trans, maybe he has used wrong oil, maybe fiddled with line cable, probably chucked a few launches and power runs down hte street to check out the shift kit and stally and has blown it up doing so...

Buyers discription??
Weight? Height? Build? And most importantly nationality??????
These would all play a large roll in my decision!
Hold out i say, if you want warranty's, you should buy brand new or from a supplier and pay premo prices. He could have done anything to it.
But on the other hand, i think a partial refund would be a good gesture, cause as far as you know the box could have been on its way out. A compromise would make you feel better, in the end cause he still ends up with a burnt gear and would have to fork out more.

i told him how many k's it had on it. he thought cause it had a shift kit, that they rebuilt all the clutch etc etc. well if that was the case it would have been more then a 400 dollar box.
anyway i have found someone that is interested in valve body and maybe converter. so that the best i can do for him.
