Hello everyone!

So, I've just finished speaking with my mechanic in regards to my blown UZZ31, which was having a few problems with the bearings of the supercharger. So I thought I would let you all know the process I've just been through and the decision we have made with the car.

Basically I bought the car and after a few weeks was hearing a nasty grinding noise in the snout of the charger. Took it to my mechanic (who is a brilliant performance mechanic) and organised to have it sent over East for inspection and repairs, no problems. So got the call back this week and it appears that my Eaton M90 isn't from Holden over here in AU, it's actually from a Mustang (or some other Ford equivalent) in the States. This meant problems in sourcing a new one as replacing the bearings in a supercharger is never as good an option as replacing it with an entirely new one. So after this discussion with the mechanic I came up with the idea of a new system all together and here is the idea.

For the next 6 months or so I'll be running the car without the original charger, once the funds are back up again is where the real fun begins. Forged internals, Twin Screw Whipple Supercharger, new stand-alone ECU (to be decided on soon - ideas anyone?), new stainless steel piping throughout and bigger brakes to support the rather large increase in power. Also to go with all this grunt under the hood, will be be bulging the bonnet, giving it a seriously awesome stance on the road!

With the old supercharger I was getting around 220rwkw. With this new setup, we are aiming for around 350-400rwkw. Which is something pretty impressive :-) Well anyways, my rant is all done and fingers crossed that all goes well for me!

Hahahaha. I don't think I'll ever sell her the idea is it's gonna be a keeper! Oh and WHOA! 930rwkw Supra?????? That's some serious punch :-) hehehe I'll be keeping everyone on the forums informed of the changes that come in the next 6 - 12 months and if I ever had to sell (hopefully this never happens) then I will only let it go to someone on Soarer Central. It has to remain in the enthusiast community!!!

Damn straight that car is MINT and if you do let it go id be on it like a hawk.

Yeah the Supra has me seriously tempted, although it isnt that cheap how often do you get the potential chance of owning a car that can beat a Veyron and yet not cost a million bucks.

Dave..........................DO IT! hahaha Your exactly right though, it's not everyday you get an opportunity to own a car where all that hard work has already been done, especially if you know the work is quality. In which case, jump straight in, put your foot flat on the floor and watch the Veyron in your rear-view mirror get smaller and smaller and smaller :-)

A dyno is the only place a 930rwkw Supra would beat a Veyron...

On the road/track a Veyron would eat it up!

Supra pulls a high 8 quarter mile where the Veyron is a flat 10 in the quarter . Wouldnt beat it in top speed though and track is debatable as cars with a lot less power can lap the nurgurbring faster.

Hahaha. Thanks Dave :-) But yes, mine won't come anywhere near that kind of territory but should give a lot of cars in Perth a run for their money! The main problem I think I'm gonna have is traction. I'm thinking for an ECU I might go down the path of the Megasquirt ECU, as you can build them to incorporate what you want and I could get traction control with it (not that other ECU's don't allow for that). Will wait to see what my mechanic recommends I do and go from there!

David, i could have told you it was a mustang blower. Who led you to believe it were from a Holden ??

Apart from that, lets hope your replacement project will kick some butt ! Once you do it, expect to pay minimum $800 at Kostecki's for a IM240 Emissions test before having it passing at the pits. My V8 is there now being tested for WA registration.

Yeah no problems Gaz :-) These things happen mate. Cars will be cars hahaha But the good news is Tristen has gone through with a fine tooth comb whilst the charger has been away and save for replacing a couple of hoses etc. he said things look fantastic! I am pretty keen to modify the setup though and will be running it without a charger at all for the next 6 months or so...then the REAL fun begins I'll make sure I keep in touch with ya and will try and sort out a time when your in Perth to show it to you when it's all finished :-)

David, that wouldn't be Tristan from WTF autos would it?...If so...get any pipework done somewhere else...Jason's mezmorize supra was butchered by tristan years ago. Such a nice car until you opened the bonnet and saw dustpan pipes connected with train track welds...Anyway good luck as I'm struggling to find GOOD people in Perth to do custom work on the 1UZ...

Can i dig this comment back up and send the thread off topic again? =)
If you put drag slicks on a Veyron and played around with the launch theory like people do with their '8 second Supra's' i think you would have a faster beast on your hands than a 10sec car.

That is all. Carry on.

Yeah Gregg, I'm using Tristen from WTF Auto...strange because he fabricated some stainless steel piping to run without the supercharger for a few months and it looks outstanding. Great welds and very tidy. Perhaps with the new workshop and more time he has it nailed down as I wouldn't take my car to anyone else now. A mate of mine has an MR2 GT and agrees that he is the man to see for performance work. He's been using him for years, of course I've only just started working with him but I gotta say he is very professional, well priced, doesn't mess you around and always kept me informed of what was happening with my car. I would thoroughly recommend him to anyone on our forum in WA.

He is located in Kelmscott, head to his website
www.wtfauto.com.au and check it out :-) I can't remember the number but he is on Brant Road. Can usually fit in general work, such as servicing and small repairs but big projects you will be waiting a while.

No probs David... I have no problems with his skills and ability to make performance. He was fantastic 4 years ago and I'm sure he has only learned more since then. If he has sorted out his pipework then fantastic as that was the area that let him down in the past. He was always a MR2 specialist though so I can't vouch for his skills branching into the 1UZ territory...

So no dramas, you sound like you are well happy, that's the main thing and I'm sure you'll end up with a monster. Cheers.

Yeah fingers crossed Gregg :-) Wasn't meaning what I had wrote to sound narky or anything either mate ;) Just thought it strange as the welding on the piping he did was very good. Anyways, I'm sure when it's all finished everyone will be able to see how awesome the new system will be lol
