You must have missed a word when reading my comments.
"not necessarily the best choices,"
I was not commenting on how good or bad your mods are but obviously if you had made a few changes to the selected mods then you would not be getting
defected on a regular basis.

As far as bettering the manufacturers standards, quite a few of those items are not even close to the manufacturers standards.
pretty much all of the following:
vented cf bonnet
shaved boot lid
halo projectors
altezza tail lights
origin bodykit

That's not to say they don't look good but I have owned most of the items mentioned at some stage and they are definitely not as good quality as the factory items when in good condition. }

It's not just the way it lights up the road, it's how much YOU can see on the road too. Not much with fogged up lights.

Put it this way, if it hasn't had an ADR approval nor a DOT mark it's illegal, and that goes for about 90% of modified cars on the road. Saying that though please at least paint the kit.

I'd like to throw my own, non-flame, two cents in this.

I think Yellow stickers, as annoying as they are, are in part a good idea. Imagine if you didn't have that silly little time limit, or an extended one, and the pits cost less then what they do now.
If you took that car over the pits, they write on a little piece of paper all the small little bits your mechanic missed that need to be done, give you it, renew that sticker and send you on your way. Now you go back, they look over it and then you don't get a little bit of paper, take the sticker off and send you on your way.
Then you act SMART and all future mods, you make sure are 100% legal. Then you get pulled by the gent's in Blue and hey, nothing.

Cheaper then taking it to my mechanic 50 bazillion times for him to find, then smooth out the problems.

Nathan, good job losing Tweety and good luck with that vision.

Doesn't quite work that way i'm afraid.

If cops THINK something might be illegal, no matter if it is or isnt, they'll yellow sticker you. And you can't contest it or do anything about it.
It depends how much of a bastard they want to be.

Reminds me of a thread where everyone was telling this young guy to go real easy in an M5 I think it was.

The young fella was getting the with the older guys saying the car was too much for him etc, boasting about his driving skills and taking offence.

Then people started wondering why he didn't post anymore and realised he was the guy who'd launched the thing (turned out to be dad's car from memory) into oblivion. Killed himself and someone else.

Much the same here mate. People are just trying to help, even if it feels a bit rough.

I once had a fast, very small car with some big rims and some rubber I couldn't afford to replace. The money it cost me in my insurance premium after I slid up the arse of a nice new car that had stopped in the rain, was more than what the rubber would have cost. Funny how you can find the money when things turn to crap, but never get around to it when you are just cruising along.

I wish I had some people on a forum willing to tell me their experiences and tell me to sort myself out, coz I'm the sort of person who would have listened.

Indeed. I'm lucky my Dad drilled into me the importance of function over form, so I always had good tyres, shocks, brakes etc, before spending money on useless bling.

My car is quite illegal much the same as any other slightly modified Soarer, but because it's kept tidy and well maintained with only slight cosmetic mods like wheels, windows arent even tinted. I dont attract any attention.

The last time a police office pulled me over he
said "Nice car mate, just cruise it and don't speed"
