nope. Have test driven about a dozen cars and none come close to the comfort levels of the soarer cockpit. Can't wait to head out on a long road trip in the new car!

Gutted. I'd really like a late rx7 with a 1uz, it'd be great fun and they look awesome.

Agree with peter, warren etc. I reckon you could buy a newer car that might..might stand the test of time and would possibly have better features but you'd have to spend a lot of money. Even a dud soarer -whats the max you could spend to bring it up to scratch? 30k including a re spray? worth it if you want to keep it and like the marque

I think that what’s so good about the Soarer is that for a base to build on its perfect and almost unmatched by any large scale production car. Yeah you have to change a few things to make it a bit newer but these changes are very minor. Put it this way the front is open to interpretation, for me it looks modern but people who aren’t cluey about cars may things its old due to the hi beams been separate from the low beam. Side on the car looks fantastic; the TT's could have done with the chrome window trim which seems many cars have now days. The rear with series 2 or series 3 tail lights doesn’t give away its age and with a subtle rear bar to make the car a bit more beefier looking rather tan long and elongated. As for the interior i totally disagree with whoever said it looks outdated. The reason i have a Soarer is because of the interior. It has a really nice design, flows well, good quality materials and plenty of gadgets to still rival modern day cars (besides the $100K+ brand new Merc, BMWs but not far behind). The only problem you could have with bring the interior to look modern is painting the wood pieces, refurbishing the steering wheel if its not in pristine condition, some floor mats and possibly leather seat covers. As for the engines, 1JZ had plenty of bulletproof power making potential and the 1UZ has plenty of bulletproof smoothness to last you 500,000kms +

Really the Soarer is the all round awesome package. Its popularity would have been a lot great if more came out manual but that’s the loss of people who have a problem with an autos.

Ive gone through multiple imports (r32 GTR, r33's, cefiros, silvias etc) and all of them have a major flaw at least for me. If you categories the exterior, interior and engine performance/modifying potential ive only found Soarers to dominate all of these categories whilst all or most other imports lack in 1 or more of these areas.

For example

Supra-interior is shocking
R33- series 1 the interior looks 30 years old, series 2 is good however the outside is personal taste
Cefiro- exterior for some, interior for most haha
GTR- besides the R34s, the interior in R33 and R32 GTRS is a bit on the tacky old side with heaps of plastic.
180sx/silvia- milk crate with a good modifying potential engine (SR20 not the CA18 haha)
S15 silvia- too much plastic in the interior
Evos-interior too simple/too much grey plastic
WRX-same as EVO
R34 skyline-interior to plastic
Aristo-needs the leather interior and some sort of rims and kit, potentially too large of a car
350GT- personal taste on interior and exterior, 4 door butt ugly
RX7 FD- awesome exterior, awesome interior (on of the best) but if your not a rotor fan the engine is a bit dodgey (100,00km rebuilds) and fuel is an issue.

Ive done my fair share of high powered street cars and at the end of the day i was young and wanted power with a few build for track/drift duties. Now i couldnt drive any of the cars besides the ones build for the purpose of drift/track as they were meant for a specific purpose, I couldn’t drive them around as a daily. I want to feel comfortable in a car, have it fell inviting and a good design along with a nice exterior and performance. Soarer does it hands down and besides the RX7 FD, R34 GTR and Honda NSX there isnt much out there worth owning if you want a complete package unless you start hitting $100K+ territory.

Oh and forgot to say that unlike most import 2 door the rear seats arent just token seat. Yeah they can be a little bit cramped but people can actually sit there for some time quite cufortably which cant be said about most imports. FC RX7s are the biggest ball breakers to sit at the back that ive been in, even sitting across but the rear seats is still stupidly uncomfortable.

David, are you referring to the MK3 Supra interior ?? Cause I think the Mk4's is great, sure it could of done with a bit more flare but I just love it how the whole dash wraps around the driver.

He must be talking about the MK III wedge with its Volvo style interior! - I've had a couple of Soarers and a Supra - and the Supra interior Pisses all over the Soarer for actually driving the thing! - sitting in traffic... I;d take the Soarer any day!!

I was actually referring to the MKIV but now that you mention it yeah you can throw in the MKIII in that category aswell. The problem with the MKIV interior is for the passengar, it feels like your totally in you own little isolated zone. Also i dont like how the speaker as just throw on the door trims rather than hidden and also the air vents, how the radio is incorporated into the dash. The pretty much had a list of what need to be inside the car and all they did was "yeah that will fit there, done" rather than put some design into it. If you think the MKIV interior is good for the driver then look at the RX7 FDs, its like been in a fighter plane yet it still looks classy/tasteful and incorporates itself with the rest of the interior. FD interior FTW, Supra interior FTL.

It was just an example mate. So if i come and cut the dash in the middle and remove everything back to bare metal in the passengar seating area and door trims you will still think that car looks just as good?

As for aerodynamics, here you go would you be happy with this?

I think we'll have to wait for the SC430 to be at the end of its production line to see what the new Soarer is.

The interior was nice, the rear seats were useless waste of leather, the front can look quite nice, the rear is quite ugly, side on the car doesnt look great, making it a convertible lost its sporty edge.

I wish this was the new Supra and was out now, id buy in in a second flat. A new Soarer has been long overdue, im getting sick of waiting to see if its gonna be as good as the 30 series or a massive flop like the SC430. If its a ugly flop i might never consider Soarers again, will be outta my mind and ill just look at keeping the 30 series.

Haha i know ifs ridiculous how long this Supra is taking, i would have been happy with the one i posted, damn happy. I actually dont mind a covnertible aslong as it looks tough with or without the roof and is only a two seater. Same thing is with the sc430, 4 seats makes it look like a bit of a chicks car where as the S2000 can be made to look very tough indeed.

The camber on that car is actually meant to look like that, wasnt like the dropped it and didnt know what to do. I actually like some camber, that is probably a bit much for me but yeah neutral isnt the way to go.

The picture seems deceiving then? The diff at the rear looks much lower than the centre of the wheels is all.
