this is just a rant so feel free to ignore me.
installing those ebay headlights took an unexpectedly long time for me. because i had to install the high beams as well i had to remove the front bumper and that took a total of 2.5hours, but then i realized that i didnt have the amber globes for the turning lights so i grabbed a mate and we went shopping.
little did i know that amber globes come in "wedge" and "bayonet" style and i bought the wedge ones instead of bayonet. so i had to go to supercheap twice to buy the damn things.
after i installed the highbeams i remounted my bumper and plugged in my headlights to test. my right highbeam was burnt out and i found that out by trying the voltmeter on it. major PITA.
then i realized that my lowbeams were not turning on. the globes were fine but the highbeam showed that the car connectors were not working so i checked the fuse. sure enough my fuse burnt out and it took me half an hour to diagnose these problems and find my voltmeter and minor things.
reinstalling the bumper was painful because things just never go back the way they came off. i ended up having a lot more screws than i started with lol. i also managed to kill my indicator bulb during the installation so i will need to find another one.
my turning lights are also disconnected at the moment because i forgot to reconnect them and i am missing some fuses thats why they weren't working before.
and holy i spent 10 hours doing all the above. i think my car hates me, but i taught her that I am the master. now for a spot of night driving to test my headlights and stress relief...

Wow, sounds like you had a terrible day!

Did you do any research on the bumper removal first? There is bound to be a tutorial pointing to every screw and stud required to remove.

I put aftermarket headlights on my VT commodore with a gregory's manual - took 30mins to get it off, new lights installed, bumper back on in 20mins, whole thing took less than 90mins.

I'm sure soarers are more complicated with all the extra wiring and multiple clusters, but missing screws may not be good, especially if you have loose spots at 100km/h.

Anyway I know you were just ranting, its all back together now.

Hmm, I think I know why your car put up so much resistance!

i actually fitted all the ones onto the bumper so that it didn't budge when i was giving it some resistance. i think those screws came from the plastic under body of the car and the wheel arch, but after working my fingers raw i was not in the mood to find out where they go.
i found the tutorial for bumper removal and that wasn't too difficult besides the fact that one or two screws were rusted on and a lot of the bolts were on quite tight.
i went out for a drive as well and realised that the lights weren't aligned and i was shooting everybody in the face! took a whole lot of adjusting before they pointed straight ahead!
gave it some TLC this morning with a wash, it needed some cleaning anyways haha. glad its over now, though it does seem like every time i try to do something i am either unprepared or something goes wrong =\

Stephen, i was nearly going to fit mine myself, but in the end decided to get nial to do it cos i also wanted other stuff done. i rang him like 5 times cause i was waiting to pick the car up. all he kept saying was these f#$$@ing things are Sh!t. problem after problem, blown fuses, very badly aligned beam, wires too short etc. all good now except that my halos died after a couple of months. i didnt have to face it myself but i did have to pay the labour.
