Hi Mate,

I have the exact same problem, and have already repaired and it multiple times and it has broken multiple times. It is pretty easy to get out.

Door trim off, remove bar across the opening (easier access) reach in and undo the electric connection, and then unscrew the bolts from the side of the door - once its loose, the lock connector to the outside handle can come loose a lot easier now. Then the whole unit should come out.

A bit of angle changing and what not, but once it comes loose it makes sense. Hopefully you can repair it, sometimes they break really rough.

Going back in is obviously just the reversal - a bit tricky to get it back in - just keep wriggling it and it will slide back to those three bolts on the outside edge - and it will go together from there.

Good luck - I am still searching for a whole unit 2nd hand, hopefully one comes up - or two - so you can get one too!

If you are handy with a welding torch you can try reattaching it, then bending it over the bolt.

The other solution is to replace the entire mechanism.

Chris explained it pretty well. =P

Does it make you feel better that the reason the bar eventually snapped is thanks to a cheap little plastic clip which came off? =P

Haha it does NOT make us feel better!!!!

I want to replace the entire mechanism - just need to find one!

Really pissed off that I missed one on eBay last week for $40. Ever so close!

Oh well, some other happy Soarer owner has a working door handle now :-)

initially the yellow plastic piece was the one i noticed had broken. then realised that the rod was facing down( the damage i did from winding the window down) so as i tried to bend to correct it s angle the whole rod snapped off. Ah well got one coming ex east for $60.

Nickel was that a private purchase (ebay etc) or a purchase from a business/dealer??

If so, could you give me the details to see if they have another? I really need one and $60 sounds great to me!

Thanks mate

Nickel, I have one.

Providing you need a passengers side one.
The mechanism motor is broken but everything else is good. You do need to order a yellow catch clip ($11 from Melville Toyota)
