Hey guys,
I am having a bit of a dilemma. I have decided it is time to part ways with my Soarer but I’m embarrassed to say that it has fallen into a state of disrepair. So what I am looking for is advice on whether I am better off trying to sell it as is or wrecking the car and parting it out.
The car in question:
1991 JZZ30 twin turbo model
Garret GT 3040R turbo conversion (2 factory manifolds have been joined) with a custom dump pipe and external gate Apexi SAFC II Apexi AVCR 2JZ-GTE fuel injectors R154 manual conversion with original Soarer pedals and tail shaft (box is missing speedo driver) Front mount intercooler Trust type R BOV
The body is in poor condition as is the interior. The car is smoky on startup, the turbo has significant shaft play. Suffers from a blinky dash and the SYSTEM CHECK never seems to complete properly so the car beeps intermittently for no apparent reason (from the door chime box I am guessing).
The car starts first time every time but I can’t sell this car in good conscience to someone in its current condition for general road use. I don’t think the car has any major mechanical issues other then being old. I don’t abuse the car as I know its getting on and don’t have the desire to spend any more money on it if something goes wrong.

It depends on what sort of money you want for it. Someone may want one to do up, but on current pricing, its not going to be worth much.
Parting it out maybe the best option, as long as you have the skills to do it, and the room to put it, and the parts. This can be a time consuming job, but may bring in more money.

you can just get upto 1500 for the manual though. and thats just the gearbox. ecu, dash, clutch, etc all adds up, and you could be looking at 3k for just a manual conversion.

As i,. You be lucky to get 7k (private sale) and 5k (from a dealer.) The appearance of the interior and exterior is the major downfall. If it were up to scratch maybe 8 to 9k? But it all depends on the buyer.
Have it up on car sales for a month or so.
But if your in need of cash. Strip it as EOI in the for sale section.

If it has so many bad points its not gonna be worth that much, also parting it out doesnt sound like it would get you much more as most of the things you say are in poor condition. The majority of the cash from parting it out is the gearbox. Eitherway its not gonna get much but throw some pics up so we can help you out a bit more.

Err a dealer wouldn't give you any more than $1000. They wouldn't be able to sell the car and would be offering 1k just to get a sale without discount. To them the car would only be worth what they could get from a wrecker.
Private sale you will get a bit more but keep in mind a good factory manual TT with sunroof and LSD sold recently for about 6k.

$3-3,500 tops in its current condition.
Because reasonable ones are going for $5-6,000, an unknown like yours could be hard to sell unless real cheap, making it worthwhile for someone to play with it. Just my opinion.
