ive had a brainwave.... i want a fast turbo diesel... i would put one in my chevy truck but ive already got the ls2 for it, so ive been thinking combining a 6.6l chev duramax turbo diesel with a soarer..... work some serious power from it and it could be an interesting car.... what are your thoughts? ok im hiding behind this door now to avoid the flying objects....

If you wanted to stick with Toyota parts, the turbo diesel v8 in current model Land Cruisers and Hilux's are pretty torquey! 1VD-FTV i think its called?

The V8 Toyota diesel aint got nothing on a Chev Duramax. Those things are awesome I drove one in the States when they 1st came out, and with the Allison 5speed auto, it would smoke the tyres on takeoff. And that was a dual wheel model. Rod, I must be as sick as you, I would love to do a sick turbo diesel conversion Soarer engine bay maybe a little cramped though.

yep im kinda hooked on turbo diesel stuff.... yea i rekon it could get a bit cramped, but thats where a big reverse bonnet scoop comes in, like on the 69 camaros... i dont really care much for sticking with toyota parts, i like chevy diesels over the toyota ones....

Rod, nice ute. I built up a SWB C20 a few years ago. Basically a 1974 C10 styleside, with Aussie C20 running gear.(easy for compliance) Then I fitted a 6.2ltr V8 diesel with T700 trans. Great ute

I actually did the ultimate sin quite a few years ago. I cut up a 1955 Chev sedan, and made it into a one tonner. 307 V8, powerglide, disc brakes. It was a great rig to drive. Missus wasnt happy when I 1st cut it up though

Previous company I worked for, I had a Dodge Ram as a company vehicle. Cummins Turbo Intercooled diesel, 5 speed manual extra cab 4X4. Leather trim etc. Fantastic truck to drive. Plenty of grunt, but too big for city driving.

I'm all for innovation But removing the all alloy 4 cam 32v V8 an engine once voted as amongst the best in the world and replacing it with a billion kg iron block lump will just the driving dynamics of the soarer right up. I've seen it done in a muscle car, but I wouldn't waste the time and effort on the soarer.... Put that diesel in your truck and sell the ls2 and go nuts on the oiler... I doubt even if it did fit into the car if it could be engineered anyway..... Although with enough time money and patience anything can be done.

I has the idea of a ls3 in soarer, an ex commo engine and box cheap as! And with a cam package same I'd not more rwkw than most of the sc'd soarers. If your handy with a spanner it'd cost less than what it would cost me to pay someone to sc my soarer, then you can boost the LS later on... But saying that I'm happy to keep the 1uz and stock too, need my license and my car.

yep, thats good idea, would take fark all to do aswell, mainly fitment of a t56 box being an issue... and where my bro works i can get any crate motor i want we can cam it an do anything to make it fast, and hes put quite a few twin turbo setups on ve commodores getting around 700rwhp, so theres another option... they have a jetboat theyre getting an ls9 corvette motor for.... gonna be a wild ride...
