Recently I've been comparing some other cars chassis' torsional rigidity specs (nm/degree) and was wondering what the Soarers are rated at, anyone know?

I wonder if its even been measured. Its one of those figures that manufacturers have only recently started marketing.

Hmm that is a pity. What about the Supras, the chassis' are much the same aren't they?

I found my MX5 was around 5700nm/Degree and my BMW 540i was about 11,000nm/degree.

It's all quite interesting.

Huge difference with the ragtop huh? 11,000 sounds pretty good for a big saloon though! I'd say the Soarer would be pretty stiff. Supra might be stiffer still as it does seem to have a smaller cabin, though not sure what effect a "hatch" type design has on torsional rigidity.

Soarer chassi is actually soft in this regard.

Most early 90's toyotas had this same characteristic, thence why the later models have extra body stiffening plates added and why strut braces are effective.
