Just got back from the drags and all I can say is FAAARK. The last few months of porting inlet and exhaust manifolds has definitely paid off. Had four runs, nearly put it into the wall on the first burnout, went right through the start line and lost traction, scary. Any way runs in order are -
I could believe it when my son came back with the time slip with the first 11.6. The track boss actually said that it was a very slippery track as they don't prep it properly for the test and tunes. I still think I can lower that a bit more as I still haven't run it on a dyno to tune the timing and hopefully a 3200 stall will get the 60 ft down a bit more. No sleep tonight, I'm still pumped up and the last run was 2 hrs ago. Timeslips and video will be up tomorrow. Sorry Daniel, in a way I hate beating your record. But you were right when you said you thought it had an 11.6 in it. I'm going to have a few more drinks to calm the nerves.

I haven't actually stripped it out yet, I still have the carpet/sound deadener, door trims, speaker/sub etc to remove. And money wise apart from gaskets the last lot of mods were free, just took about 80 hours of my time patiently sitting with the burr honing out the manifold etc. I'll start another thread when I get time with everything I have done. I still cant believe the flow improvements made such a huge difference, I am still running the same tune that I was before.I'm not quite sure what boost i was running, my son kept winding it up and the boost gauge only goes to 20psi, I'm guessing about 25psi. I completely forgot to do any logging when I was doing the runs, but the AFR were about 11-11.5 on the gauge.

Nice work Jeff. Did you take any pics of the finished work before you put it back together? I hope you have some for your next thread. I'm sure there will be quite a bit of interest in your efforts

hey jeff congrats!!! must be proud of yourself! i know i would be. just a question just had a look at your profile says you are running the predator kit like me just wondering if you had any issues with heat? everyone reckons you would but i done a few laps of wakefield (times would have been crap as was on 20's lol) but had no heat troubles. and i cant wait to see how you ported the manifold might do the same with the 2j ill be upgrading to while i have it out if it made that much difference

Congratulations Jeff. This might just be what was needed to wake the dieseltrain up from his slumber. Just wondering if you touched the block at all or is this improvement from porting the inlet/exhaust manifolds?

Daniel- I don't want to start an argument or anything but you keep going on about the amount of mods I have and the money side of things. As I have said before I don't have a lot of $$'s to spend as we are paying off a largish home loan, my whole wage goes straight into it. The only things I have extra are the emanage, cams and the Predator Intercooler setup (which if I remember rightly everyone said would be a huge heatsoak and not worth the money.) As I have said before I do all my own work and have spent a of hours getting the Soarer to where it is. If I am misreading your meaning I apologise in advance, but I will say again I don't have unlimited money to put into the Soarer, otherwise I would have been running a lot quicker a year ago.

Firstly let me say i dont wanna hijack your awsome Thread Jeff !!!!!
All ive said is " I " dont have the money mate, thats all I would be lookin at atleast 1k for EMU + 440 inj and 1.5k for cams , lightweight bonnet and boot? And that would match your current mods .
Then 100 hrs of labour intensive porting ( which im glad someone has finally done ) as ive always known they were a restriction . And are the reason why people fit high flow twins with not much extra power !
All that hard work with a pair of BB centred CT12a's would definately make around 330-340rwkw in my opinion.
Thanks for the Vids they are great !
I am far from starting an argument Jeff , I just get sick of people asking " when am i goin quicker " , as if 11's with minimum mods isnt enough, hehehe ..
Back to you

that is amazing!!!! for the record, i ported my exhaust manifolds several years ago. my best time was a 12.3, best terminal speed 111.87mph(182km'h) and i spent more than jeff, shift kitted trans, hi stall convertor, HKS f-con iS management, HKS cams etc. i feel that the stock turbo manifolds are less of a limiting factor than the turbine housings.(a 2jzgte pulled 402rwkw with stock exhaust manifold, and adapters for bigger turbos).perhaps jeffs good gains came from the inlet manifold porting??? You are right peter, Daniel and Jeff are both heroes.

No worries Daniel, I was reading something into it that wasn't there, bloody internet. Peter I totally agree, Daniels time bloody quick for the mods he has. Any way here's the timeslips, I might start another thread in the Track Car section on Monday and get some pics up. I'll do it from work as my home connection is satellite and slow.

Sebastian, I fitted the UAS dumps and made up the 3 inch pipe down to the front of the tranny, but I think a lot of the improvement came from the porting. I would love to do the head as well, but its a pain getting all the bits of and on again. So no, the block and heads are stock.

nice video's sure whooped that xr6 thats what i like to see lol should try organise a run between jeffs and daniels soarer just so we can get a id of the two fastest stock turbo's together

Hehe , Only if jeff drops his boost to match mine, lol, otherwise im toast
If Jeff ever made it to Sydney for some unknown reason, Id be happy to get it happening and would definately get it on Video And i'd also be happy to lose to another fellow soarer ;)

ah well may end up a dead heat never know what will happen but would be awesome to get some stock looking soarers ripping it up together with some awesome times. out of curiosity does anyone know the fastest skyline with the standard turbo? surely couldnt be as fast as these two cars

Roughly how much would it cost to get this done by a professional?
Do you mean the porting? If so I would say you would be looking at a couple of grand, most of it there is no quick way to do it. I'm not sure if extrude honing would work on the short exhaust manifolds, it would on the intake. It is still expensive.
