Whats the problem, exactly?

They were obviously going to do an engine swap or something.

its fun destroying something that works before you replacing whatever it is!

its the cash for clunkers scheme in the states, people trade in their old less economical cars and in return they get a voucher for a certain amount off a new economical "green" car. but the traded cars have to have the motors destroyed then the bodys can either be parted out and sold as parts or crushed. so dont go on bitchin bout it being a nice car being destroyed, ive seen nicer cars theyve destroyed... these yards get all these cars and have big demo derbys with them then poor sodium silicate in the motor an on the limiter for 10 mins...
its stupid i know and the program has been stopped in most places... google it.....

Not worth the space keeping it or the time to advertise and sell it for the $0 you'd get. Who wants old motors sitting around? If you were doing a swap and the new one died, you'd fix the new one, not go backwards.

That motor is not worth the time so if blowing something up is fun, go for it.

And yep, cash for clunkers.

I'd say it was pretty far gone to start with, or had most of the oil removed considering how quick it was to die. Still a totally retarded redneck thing to do though.

they drop the oil and pour sodium silicate in the motors to kill them thats why the die so quick. its basicly liquid glass so it destroys all the internals and renders the block "rooted"....

On the Chevy forums noone cares if someone blows up a small block.

Are you seriously telling me you want a 2JZGE cluttering up your garage? Obviously they didn't want the motor.

I never realised there were such tight arse packrats around. Jesus. It's an old motor. Have at it if you don't want it. I smash stuff I don't want all the time if it isn't worth salvage or sale.

Whatever dude. Hey I've got some old shoes here if you want them. Probably a good couple months wear left. I was gonna throw them away but you might like to put them away in the shed for no good reason at all?

Seriously what is anyone going to do with a 2JZGE? Anyone? Any suggestions? They aren't even worth anything here let alone in the US.

It's not that easy to make a 1.5JZ out of a 2JZGE. There are a lot of differences between the GE and GTE. Like I said, 2JZGEs just aren't worth anything.

Hehe, that reminds me of Homer Simpson.

"I'll smash it, I'll smash it good, hahahaha!"

Guess Aussies/Kiwi's have a different view on whats useful and worth keeping than Americans - I mean there are so many magpie types in NZ and Australia that have back yards full of stuff they just might need some day - don't think that happens as much in the US.

The GE's are perfect for the 1.5. Forged pistons in a GE don't require oil squirters & compression can be adjusted with the rebuild/headgasket. But don't let fact stand in the way of a great debate.
Anyways, when does Bam Margera & Johnny Knoxville appear in this thread?

And what are you going to stick that GE blocked 1.5JZ into? It has a distributor not a crank trigger like the GTE block. So you would need to run it in a GE car, or buy a whole GE harness and ECU. And if you were running it in a GE car, you would already have a GE block, so these boys wouldn't be selling it to you, so they are free to blow it up. And you wouldn't buy all the electronics because for that price you could have just dropped in a GTE block in the first place and saved yourself the wiring problems and thick head gasket.

Think about it. 2JZGEs are worthless. Noone would ever buy one.

If anyone bothered to read the comments the maker of the video just bought a gte motor with a 6 speed transmission. Has anyone on here ever put a ge motor into their soarer? These engines should never have been put in soarers and I'm glad to see another one bite the dust. Worth less pieces of junk I say and the car in the video is probably now cruising the streets with a 6 speed 2jz-gte so it's doing a lot better than many of the cars on this forum.

It amazes me how people on this forum have such a problem with differing opinions. Michael you have posted by the far the most inflammatory comments on this thread and cannot accept the fact that I don't agree with you without resorting to abuse, semi-racism or bad language/shouting.

The GE block is perfect for a 1.5JZ conversion as it is the same 3.0lt block as the turbo model. It can be used to build a built 3.0lt bottom end combined with 1jz sensors and running gear and 1jz head.

I am 99% sure this has been done before on more than one occasion in a soarer with the 1jz sensors being used to replace the GE sensors.

But most cases a GE engine isn't worth much and selling it could be more trouble than the $$$$ you could get for it.

Exactly. Same block minus galleries.
Keep the wiring harness from the 1JZ and all the top end bits & pieces. A couple of 2JZ bits are needed...water pump, timing belt, serpentine tensioner, head gasket & also the 1jz sump. The Dizzy is gone with the GE head, so no issue there. No GE car, harness or ECU required or desired.
Sure, the GE's not worth much in standard trim, but tweak the bottom end with forgies etc, bolt it up to a 1jz head...there's your extra half a litre. This is a cheaper option for anyone that has work done on their 1jz top end...moreso than buying a whole 2JZ-GTE, then beginning the modding process.
Been done plenty of times & heaps of documentation & reference all over the net.
This thread is great, just like an episode of Mythbusters, and with the blow stuff up part too!

The 2JZ-GE is a fine motor and far from worthless. Sure it'll barely pull the skin off a rice pudding compared to the GTE, but its still a fantastic match for the Soarer for a great town n country cruising car. Thats why I own one - gets me from Hamilton to Auckland in quiet enjoyable comfort a couple of times a week, and after doing 100,000km's in it since I bought it, has cost me a cam belt, a set of plugs, a dizzy cap and rotor, a PCV valve, and about 15 filters and 75 litres of oil. Damn reliable, and I can do all the work on it myself.

and your all still forgetting why theyre blowing it up.... its not coz they dont want the motor or the potential they could have done with that motor...

its not their car, they dont care, the govenment pays them to destroy motors, theres probly been alot more 1jz`s, 2jz`s, 1uz`s that have suffered the same fate.

2jz is still a lot cheaper to run though.
