Oran Park, Sydney's oldest and most iconic racing circuit, is due to close in January, 2010 to make way for a housing development.
This weekend the 31st October/1st November will see the last ever State Championships round to be held at the circuit, and will be a must-see for anyone even remotely interested in cars, car racing or grid girls.
The program is full of categories, all with over-subscribed grids, including Sports Sedans, Improved Production, Combined Touring Cars, Formula Vee, Formula Ford, Sports & Racing Cars, HQ Holdens and Production Sports Cars.
There is qualifying and one race for each category on Saturday, and two races for each category on Sunday, including a 1-hour endurance race for Production Sports Cars that includes a compulsory pit stop.
I urge all Soarer Central members in Sydney and surrounds to head to Oran Park this weekend for an unforgettable event. Come and have a chat to me too - I'll be hanging around the Sports Sedans marquee and helping out with a video production of the category. Unfortunately my car won't be ready in time for it, but I'll be there all weekend anyway.
For those who want to know more about my Soarer Sports Sedan and haven't seen it yet, here is the link to the thread detailing its build:
