Need a solution to the following problem:

I will be picking up a spare boot lid and not sure how to transport it. Options I have thought of are:

1. Carried in the boot of a Soarer ('32).
2. Threaded into the rear passenger area of a Soarer.
3. Take the Range Rover instead.

Need to know if anyone has experience with options 1 or 2 and advise if they are feasible.

If no definitive responses I may have to resort to trial-and-error process

Hey mate,
I've just recently picked one up from Daniel (Thanks again mate) & travelled about 40ks with it hanging out the boot of my Celsior. Not ideal, there was a fair bit of overhang & I couldn't see out of the rear view mirror with the boot not closing. The celsior is a great deal bigger than a Soarer too.
Forget options 1 & 2. Take the Ranger. Tie it down in the back too so you don't lose your head with any hard braking.
Anyways, with that spotless soarer you have, you should always carry parts in another car if possible

I brought one up from Melbourne to Canberra behind the front seats of my Soarer. A bit fiddly getting it in, and you need to tape some buffers (towelling?) over the pointy bits to avoid damage

Why don't you unbolt your existing lid and bolt the other in it's place when you get there?

What he said.

Brilliant, Mike. That's exactly what I thought when I read the title!

Mike, good use of lateral thinking, however, I dismissed this option early on as it is illegal to drive a vehicle in this police state with missing panels. Instant defect I have been advised.

Peter, thanks for recounting your experience. I will now consider my options.

Mark, thanks for your concern about my spotless Soarer, however, I do not have the "spotless one" in mind for this road trip.
