Ugh.... mate dont be fooled into thinking it will just bolt on just because it says Toyota Soarer in the ad.

I think cannons are over done now also mate. If it were me, i would be going with a pair of lovely offset chrome mufflers with nice 3" tips on them. PLUS a cat back system and maybe remove a couple of the stock mufflers and it would sound very nice.
Prob wont notice much power difference though. **have you done the BFI mod yet?

Putting on of those on any car is the equivalent of just getting the hammer out and denting your car.

Devalues it and makes it sound like crap.

thanks mike i have two lol
depends if its done with taste. they can look good id say get some with a slight angle tip, dont have them sticking out very far and will look ok.
they wont be straight bolt on though.
i would probably go a cat back as suggested and get a set of nice rear mufflers and tips give it a nice low beefy note instead of a raspy one canons usually give without a turbo

my sisters n/a supra sounds alright she has a 2.5inch cat back with a metal cat and just a rear cannon but really loud you would want some kind of resonator or a muffler instead of cannon.

i donno, cannons always remind me off 4 cylinder engines, probably because all the kids these days chuck one on their civic and corolla. get a oval muffler, much better loooking than a cannon, and sounds better.

Mike do you know what a cannon is. A cannon internally is exactly the same in design as a straight through muffler ie Lukey Ultra Flows which you had on your previous car. Magnaflow also have a range of straight through mufflers some of which are oval some of which are round the same as a cannon. Within the range some have a larger and smaller body all which effects the filtering frequencies of the muffler ie the sound.

The 3 best 1uz exhaust systems I have seen all used cannons.
The lower volume of the straight through muffler ie cannon provides a smoother note, less drone and doesn't have that crappy phat/farty sound that is typical of nearly every 1uz exhaust system. They still sound good over a wide operating range particularly at lower revs and overrun.

The length of the muffler effects the dB, so a longer cannon will be quiter than a short oval straight through. Size of the exhaust system and system design also has a large effect so it is always hard to compare system.

A low volume muffler provides a smoother note can help reduce exhaust gas reduction in velocity and is similar to the priciple of exhaust systems used on supercars ie Ferrari that often use many small volume chambers so that the exhaust gasses don't expand and slow down. The sound is often much closer to that of a turbo muffler that has 3 low volume chambers.

The horrible loud exhaust on 4cylinders that you are reffering too are caused by a way too large pipe and muffler for the engine. And it has recently become cool to put a 2.5" or 3.0" on a 4cyl engine which is the cause of the problem and not the straight through round low volume muffler ie cannon. This helps performance by about 0.1% and sound •••• as the exhaust system is way too big. Use a reasonable size system and it will sound good and not be too loud.

Exactly. You just need to look at the driver of whatever car they are driving, and it sums up why they were so stupid to put one, two or even sometimes four on their car.

Probably a crap exhaust system possibly poor quality components cheap mufflers I don't know and it is hard to compare different systems.

Until recently I thought cannons were wank factory horrible crap but I heard a couple that sounded good very good and I looked a little further and found a cannon is exactly the same design as a straight through muffler in design.

They flow well and provide good sound absorption.

Due to there lower volume they are likely to not have as deep note (marginally) and this can be calculated but they also less likely don't have the farty and crackly raspy overrun.

Please note not all larger straight through mufflers will make a 1uz sound crap some sound great, the muffler is one factor in an exhaust system.
