not that its a problem but on random occasions last one being a few months ago, my soarer idles at 500rpm not 700rpm. the idle change occurs when i start the car it immediately drops from 1000 or whatever down to 500 and remains there until i turn the car off let it sit for a while then start it again. it happened again today and im wondering if there is anything i can do to make sure it doesn't idle at 500rpm again ?

Mine idles around 1000-1200 in neutral, but when I put it in drive it drops to around 500. I thought 500 was normal in drive? I've been more worried about it idleing above 1000rpm in neutral.

Mine does the same thing every now and then. Happened this morning as well. I think it has something to do with the idle control valve, and I don't think it is very good as when the engine is cold it wants idle to be a little higher to push the oil through it while warming up.
Correct? Or do I have no idea? (to someone who may know the facts) lol.

no you are right christian the engine must idle a bit higher when warming up. usually when i start it up it goes from 1200rpm down to 1000rpm then down to 700rpm. but when this 'problem' occurs it drops right down to 500rpm and the engine sounds so soft, even after a bit of driving it stays at an evil 500rpm.
if it is the idle control valve can someone please explain how to fix the problem ? cheers.
Did mine recently and the parts were $37.20 for both bearings (one is dirt cheap the other expensive)
You only need to remove the motor assembly which is the black part and held on with 3 screws and one cable connector.
You will however need to move the spark lead tray out of the way to get it out and that is a bit more fiddly but there is definitely no coolant draining required.
NB The bottom of the webpage about the engine not running after you do it, it's a right royal pain to get it going again after you do this job but it will work, just hold the accel down a tad to maintain the revs.

On a TT idle should be 600, on a 1JZ VVTi it should be 700-750. Ive found out with my oil pressure guage anything 500rpm and below and you are getting 0 psi of pressure. For some reason in my TT the idle picked up back to normal when i filled up my power steering fluid reservoir. Also for some reason ive found during winter if your car is under a carport and has air blowing over it over night the idle can be low on start up. Although i didnt have this problem last winter. However get the idle back up to normal ASAP as you dont want to feel the effect of 0 oil pressure for any period of time or it will cost you decent coin to fix the damage.

Bump!
Guys I need a little advice/info. I recently installed some gauges to my 1JZA80 vvti and found that once the car is warmed up my oil pressure would sit at 24PSI. Is this bad? I use 5W30 oil in case that helps.
