Ey People, the other day I came back from getting my car fixed and i went for a short drive on my way home and when I got back I parked, and there was a pretty bid puddle of coolant on the floor, I have no idea why... Anyway know? Before I dropped the car in the morning to the mechanic dude i filled the expansion bottle with coolant, but I may have filled it right to the top. Could it have let some out because there was too much in there? After it leaked, it has never leaked again. I dont want to drive it far, just incase its something really bad. I mite take my car to a radiator place, anyone know any good places in the western subs? Also before the big leak thing, about a week before all my coolant was gone form the radiator and recovery bottle, and my car stared to heat up, I checked it and it was bone dry... Its never happened ever since... If anyone has any clue what it could be can you please let me know, Im puzzled.

will just be the water expanding when hot and overflowing into the expansion bottle of which you have filled so next place for it to go is out onto the ground. If your worried, take it to a mechanic and get it pressure tested, will take all of 5 minutes

the EXACT same thing happened to me when i first got my soarer and just went away on its own. probably not the best idea to wait for it to go away though.

The overflow bottle should be filled about halfway when cold, if you fill it to the top it will blow it all out of the drain from the overflow bottle. Then when it cools down and it is sucked back into the radiator it there wont be enough fluid and it will overheat. by the sound of it you mightn't have a problem, just fill the overflow bottle correctly when cold.

My car only heated up once. It has never done it ever since. My collant levels are fine now and it hasnt leaked so far. How much does it cost to get a water pump fixed if its that?

As far as I know, you will always want to get your water pump replaced, not fixed, as it is more economical to do so. I recently (2 weeks ago) had my water pump removed and replaced, cost me approx NZ$600 (inc labour of course). That included fitting a new cambelt which I would advise you also do at the same time.

Many creatures are attracted to the smell so yeah ones that are kept in the backyard often get poisoned when peoples cars let coolant out of the overflow after a hard run, or just from leaks.
