Hi Guys, I went to pick up my soarer from my mechanic yesterday after he was to change the coilpacks, spark plugs and fuel filter and Throttle body Coolant Bypass. He told me the car was ready to drive off, i turned the car on(it started up fine), only to see an ABS error coming up on the dash, and when i went to press the bake and move the auto selector into DRIVE it wouldnt move, its stuck in Park, the only way was to press the red button down and move the selector into Drive. So, me and him went checking for blown fuses, first we checked the engine bay ones, they were all good, the he went down to the drivers side footwell for the interior fuses to find that the ECU fuse had blown, he changed it over, An IT JUST BLEW AGAIN, he repeated it about three times, each time the ecu fuse BLEW! so he told me to come back on monday when i finish exams and work on it in his workshop to find the cause(as he claimed he took it for a test drive after he finished fixing it and it was fine)!
So these are the symptoms after coilpacks, spark plugs and fuel filter and Throttle body Coolant Bypass where replaced/fixed:
- Car starts and drives fine - ABS Error on Dash - Auto selector wont move from Park when the brake is pressed, only with the red button - Ecu fuse blowing, every time a new fuse is installed
So, my question is What could be the Problem and how do i solve it?

Based on the (only) wiring diagram I could find, the wiring from the fuse is uninterupted from the junction box all the way to the ECU - a fuse that keeps popping indicates either a short circuit in the wiring or a short circtuit in the ECU. Run a jumper wire directly from the fuse to the ECU to check it. I dont think the work you have had done is too closely related to this wiring - it could be a coincidence... or not

Thanks Cameron for that, will pass the info onto my mechanic! Gary, the coilpacks are superspark, many have them in their 1jz and they have proven to be just as good as OEM so far!

using a multimeter measure the resistance from the ecu side of the fuse to the chassis. It will measure close to zero (the cause of the fuse blowing).
now unplug the ecu, if resistance is still~zero, wire is "pinched 'and shorting to chassis.Look for damage in the areas the mechanic worked. If resistance goes to open cct, the fault is in the ecu.

I know it seems kinda coincidental that the issue came up but I think its a bit unfair to automatically assume the mechanic is dodgey for not claiming responsibility...
I just read the symptoms you gave for the second time and I think I gave you a bum steer Shadi. Sorry about that! If the ABS light is on and the shift lock will not disengage, then it sounds more related to the ABS control unit. Are you 100% sure it is the ECU (engine control unit) fuse thats popping? If the ECU fuse blew then you would not be able to start the engine :/
I just had a good look thru the JZZ30 pin outs and I cant see a pin that controls the shift-lock solenoid - so it is more than likely that its involved with the ABS control unit (would explain why you are getting an ABS fault on the dash.

will look into on tuesday guys, as i have my last exams tomorrow another thing to mention, i intalled a DIY fuel cut defender made of 8 diodes, to the ecu( i think connected it to the map wire and cant remember what else)i got it off an old post here! i disconnected it now, but i think this caused a short circuit in the ECU, as NONE OF THE ELECTRICS WORK in the car, ONLY THE DASH! Will be getting a another ECU on tuesday and putting it in to see if its the problem! Cheers
Make sure none of the wires from the coil packs have any cuts in them ect ect as the can make contact with other parts on around the rocker covers n cause a surge. Try to go through every possible wire that could of been touched

i had a look today, its the ECU IGN fuse that is blowing! I unplugged the ecu and the electrics satarted working(windows and sunroof)i havnt tried it with a multmeter yet because i couldnt find mine, just found it though, so will give it another go tomorrow! Just a question, What does the ECU IGN fuse for? what does it power? Cheers
