Hey all,
Well I had a momentary lapse of concentration and backed in to some bricks in my driveway. The result was a reasonably deep scuff mark on the rear left rim. My question is, because the wheels have a shadow chrome finish can they still be repaired? (shop or DIY) Obviously with an alloy wheel I wouldn't have much of a problem, but i'm unsure with these wheels. They are Starcorp Impuls in Shadow chrome.

Sean, As we speak I'm fixing (cosmetic only) a set of starcorp fusion. originally chrome. I'm completely stripping the edge and dish, and repainting the centres gold. I'm not 100% sure but it seems the chroming process on these and probably yours is not real chrome. Just a paint on chrome. It comes off real easy and isn't very durable. Mine have a very thick layer of builder on the alloy first (which is the hardest thing ever to remove) then a black undercoat or base and then the chrome on top.
How deep are the scratches? you might need to fill them first depending on how fussy you want to be. Any pics would help us recommend a solution. Here is one of my rears almost complete. (crappy phone photo though)

First an etch primer. Then just an acrylic automotive paint. The pics looks brown, but in the flesh they are a bronze gold colour. I wont be able to use a high pressure cleaner on them at close range anyway. But I'll just keep them clean with a soft wheel brush and mild detergents. The alloy is bare and will remain like that. Means polishing every month or so but I don't mind. I need to clean them anyway so a little polish wont take much at the same time.
Just need to get motivated in this cold weather and finish the other 2

If you want to go the repainting rout, take your time and do a good job.
You can use a Dremel on the scuffed parts if there deep, then layer on filler, leave for a day or two to dry properly, then sand them down to perfection.
Next step is etch priming, then painting.
Im not sure where your gonna get shadowchrome paint from though? how about a auto paint matcher? But yea, once painted leave them alone for a week to cure.
