Symptoms include: - Over bumps back end feels like it's veering to the left (stepping out) - Steering pulls when going over slight bumps, pot holes, small ridges (pulls usually to the left)

Are you shocks OK? Could be as simple as a failed shock - of course I know nothing about airbags so it might not be applicable to you, but I've had similar simptoms with a failed rear shock.

I'd have thought after 18 years there is no way the dampening could be working properly? I mean a good quality KYB or Koni standard shock wouldn't last anywhere near that long. Are the airbag shocks really so good that they could last 18 years?
Yeah James, all in all I'd have coil-overs, cusco sway bars, all nolethane bushes, but in Adelaide, you pretty much can't have an engine in you car it is that bad, So my dilemma is, my car sits pretty low with the height controller and when on a smooth road rides comfortably and when I want to go through the hills, stiffening the bags up gets me by, but major issue is that if I get pulled over I can pump them up, where as with coil-overs I am dead with cops, but, I'd love them for cornering

Haha I'd do one thing differently and get all branz bushes rather than nolathane ones. My reasoning is that there is no give in the suspension. I've got nolathane bushes up the front of my car and I dislike how firm it is, bur that's partly my fault for sticking bilstein coilovers on it.

If your profile pic is current then you have some problems.
1. Wrong ride height 2. Wrong wheel offset
All of your problems can be caused by incorrect suspension geometry, even the rear end stepping out is a known issue with IRS equipped cars.
Replacing bushes only means you can set the alignment to a specified value, it doesn't mean you wont have problems if you deviate from OEM specifications.
If you want to keep the nice wheels and lowered look you need to find someone that can take the OEM alignment values and modify them to best match the changes to the car.
Michael, I put that theory to the test when I had my previous wheels, drove around at a normal height and still had the same problems, the bigger wheels actually feel better amazingly.
I am going to see my mechanic and see if anything other than the struts are stuffed and then I am going to replace the rears,
Got my car booked in on Monday for a 28-point sus check, I think it is the rear struts, on norm they are soo bad, but on sport the car handles 10 times better and the stepping out is reduced substantially, any ideas?

Cant offer much help Christian, mine has coils on it now so never had any experience with the airbags. One thing I can offer is make sure the mechanic doing this 28 point check knows our Soarers. I believe your average suspension dealer would have limited or no experience with the airbag set up on the 31's. And I doubt they would know what to check.
By the sounds of your last thread, handling better on sport mode, sounds definitely like your struts. Time for coils?
Cheers Dan! Like your car, also noticed your an engineer? mechanical or civil? I am studying currently, Yeah I wanted coils but I'm scared of getting defected in Adelaide! because of ride height, plus wouldn't be able to get into my drive!

I think our Soarers, especially the v8s with all the gizmo's appeal to us Engineers. I just sold my old wheels to Oleg, meet him at Monash Uni on Monday, hes doing a double degree eng/science.
I finished mine 7 years ago. Mechatronics.
If you can, keep the bags. I'd love to have them currently. after all our V8s are cruisers, not drift cars. So yeah I'd love to go back to bags. but cant justify the cost. Keep us posted with your outcome.
