It's been a year this month since I bought my '93 model Twin Turbo Soarer, after parting with my N/A 300ZX, it's been a great 12 months of owning it. A year sure does fly & I think I'm happy with some of the mods & parts I have collected throughout that time. Even though there is still a long way to go ! I'll do my best to remember everything I have done to date & list it below.
I would also like to thank everyone on here that I have dealt with & met ! Or who has helped me out in some way, it's much appreciated !!!
The car seen a few different looks through my indecisiveness. Here are the current modifications:
- Greddy radiator hard pipe - 1JZ clear timing belt cover - Vacuum hoses replaced with Blue silicon hoses - Cusco strut brace - Cusco Zero II adjustable coil overs - Lowered ! - Reconditioned power steering rack - New battery - New bonnet struts - A good pair of silver door handles to replace my polished pair - Front Toyota badge - 18" AVS VS-5 wheels 18x8.5 front & 18x9.5 rear - DBA front slotted discs - Painted calipers - Painted front lip - 2.5GT-T badge placed under boot line (like the sc300-sc400 badge positioning) - 3M carbon fiber vinyl wrap door pillars - Spoilerless boot lid (love it !) - Tinted '95 tail lights - Custom clear lens head lights - eBay Black housing high beams - D.speed clear side indicators - Full woodgrain interior - Supra steering wheel - Greddy turbo timer - M's electronic boost controller (15psi) - Leather rear seat - 3rd brake light - Rear glass replaced with non-wiper window & tinted - Custom air ducts - Lower turning signals removed - Double DIN Pioneer head unit with FM converter - New Black hand brake cover - Leather gear shifter - 6000k HID's - 3" cannons - White on Black number plates - Autobahn88 FMIC (previous owner) - Full exhaust (previous owner) - Steel wheeled turbo's (previous owner) - Sunroof (previous owner)
Previous modifications that were:
- Roof spoiler - 2.5GT-T side badges - Polished door handles & door pillars - 17" Mesh design wheels / 17" AVS model 5 copies - '93 taillights half tinted - Twin turbo decal on boot - Bleed valve boost controller - Double DIN Eclipse head unit - Front bumper canards - eBay clear tinted tail lights - eBay Black housing halo head lights - Evolution rear bumper skirt - Stock boot with duck tail spoiler - Stock spoiler then removed - Factory rear wiper window - Red, Black & White calipers - Griffon badge
Future modifications will be a '97 front bar, some new side skirts & possibly a rear skirt to match, I like the current look of the stock bumper. And hopefully that will be the body side of things finished !
And here is a photo how it currently is from the weekend. (Wind deflectors to go back on.)
And here is another of it & my ZX, before I laid my hands on the Soarer ! Thank God it has coil overs now.
Thanks Dan ! I'm liking that front-on photo too. Regarding the sunroof, the car came with an aftermarket control switch so originally a slicktop as you said. It has been well done though, with the factory slider as well.
And replacing the rear glass was actually quite cheap. I only had to pay for the installation & the replacement glass. I was removing my roof spoiler one day when the original wiper glass cracked to pieces & the tint was holding it all together haha. So all up I think $180.
My 300zx wasn't a TT like my Soarer so power wise I can't compare. But, with the ZX the interior felt very driver-focused, like a cockpit only with comfort. Very comfortable electric seats which hugged your body & the 2 pods on either side of the dash with light & climate controls made it really user friendly & effortless. To drive it felt like a go kart, or a "slightly" bigger version of an mr2, it handled awesome & I couldn't pick a blind spot. I also owned the 4 seater which I think looks better as well, with a longer & sleeker look compared to the 2 seater.
Body wise, I think all they need is to be lowered & a set of wheels & they look grouse, no bodykit required. I would still own another, & I do plan to buy another ZX one day. There is plenty of parts available at down to earth prices too, from places such as "Caz Racing" who look after most owners on the Aus300zx forum.
I love my Soarer & it's luxurious & spacey interior, so jumping into the ZX & then into a Soarer it's totally different, but I love both for what they are, whether sporty or luxury, & I am sure many others would too.
Zed's are also getting cheaper these days too.. which isn't necessarily a good thing for the sellers I suppose, but if you can find a nice one (which there still is some decent examples out there) I say it's worth your time.

Quick shot of the engine bay. An area I'll slowly make more presentable.. I did make a purchase for an 'Radiator Air Cooling Plate' from Luxurymods.com, but that's a totally different story all together, almost 3 months & I still haven't got it.. At least a claim has been made to USPS from Luxurymods.
Then this photo was taken shortly after I fitted the air ducts..
My eBay clear lens retrofit conversion.
'95 model tail lights cleared before I tinted them (which I'm glad I did)
This is when I was sporting front bar canards, full body kit & Matt Black wheels & just some King Springs for height. Photo quality not the best. Really debating giving my new wheels the Matt Black treatment again..
'93 half tinted tails before I fitted the tinted eBay lights
Un-modified front end, aside from painting the Griffon badge 'chrome' & obviously testing out my HID's & Halogen lights.
After I fitted the eBay Black housing head lights, Black badging, removed the lower turning assist lamps & polishing the lip on the wheels after painting them Black
As you have noticed I 'tend' to document everything !!
