Yeah so regardless of monetary value. What car would you swap your Soarer for as a straight swap? I would swap mine for a 92 Lotus Esprit SE

In reality though, all those cars I've listed are still quite pricey. I'm happy with how my car is. I've sorted the wheels, brakes, suspension, exhaust and other niggling problems. The 97 front bar is on it's way too, and then all it needs is minor tweaks here and there. I'll probably chuck a blower on this car down the track and I'll be a happy camper.

I wouldn't swap but one of the next cars on the list would be a light weight kit car. No interior no air con ect just raw basic and light weight. It wont be nice and you wont want to drive long distances but awesome fun having high power to weight brilliant brakes and handling. If I could afford it which I will not be able to a ZR1 Vett. The new lotus' such as Exige, Elise using toyota driveline are very reliable and trouble free. Lotus do build good chassis but they used to use terrible Rover power plants all fixed now, hard to go wrong with a corolla power plant.

Haha more or less like my soarer. EG: Driving from sydney to brisbane and having my 20yo exhaust fall onto the road. I'd take a 370z though. My mate has the 260z with a 1jz in it. It'd kind of be cool: |

LOL i can't beleive you guys would swap your soarer for a jzx90 or even jzx100?!?! these are literally the falcodores of japan.. i would CONSIDER a jzx110.. and for what i paid for my soarer i might have been able to stretch my budget to one.. but i didn't.. here's why: chaser / mk2 interior SUCKS. not even HALF the features of a soarer.. why on earth would you want one??? jzx100 value is plummetted to ridiculously low yet people still think they are worth bank.. they're not.. jzx110 however is VERY nice interior.. but i'd only have an auto.. manual = thrash buckets! okay down to brass tacks. ONLY cars i would swap soarer for.. are: Nissan fairlady Z34 (370Z) Z40 soarer / Lexus SC430 (this will be my next car) BMW 335i (would have a 2Jzgte in it though) to summarize: V35 - don't see what everyone sees in these cars. poor man's fairladyZ chaser - yuck!

They are quite ok cars, reliable and drive well. I don't think they were intended to have lux interior and for around 10k you can pick up a mint car.

Go and drive a V35.... Keep in mind it is also an older car compared it to a 350z not the 370z.... At a recentish track day from dataloging a V35 had the highest cornering speed and G forces. They are very well balanced with good suspension geometry. They are a very good platform and they would certainly out handle/drive a 335 (I think there was a comparison test on Top Gear Nissan was better everywhere performance wise except driver comfort and interior quality). V35 has ok interior certainly a step up from the 350z but both cars whilst they perform and drive well are just not nice and refined. It is hard to put them into words but they are great for a drive around the block but they quickly become tiresome and horrible on long drives. A lot of people wouldn't agree with a z40 I don't think they are anywhere near as bad as there supposed internet reputation. |

I thought we were talking about the next car we'd be getting, you know - what you're going to swap your soarer for. Hence my realistic car: 370z. It's got an excellent lineage. Its nice on the inside and outside. It can go easily as fast as my soarer. Who knows - might be cheaper on fuel too

I will get flamed for this one, but I am partial to the BA/BF Falcon XR6 Turbos as a cheap HP fix. Reasonable comfort, plenty of grunt, and heaps of go fast bits. And I just bought a BA XR6 Turbo ute Easy to drive normal, and hang on when the go pedal is pressed down. Has 306rwkw. Now, let the flaming begin I still have my Soarer(wife wont sell it)

having recently been offered both 10, and 15k for my soarer....i have sat down and had a very very long and hard think about this one long and hard...had a look at the market and decided theres nothing i could get for that kind of money that i would rather own/drive...and that got me onto thinking...what WOULD i rather have if money wasnt the deciding factor, if it was just a straight up swap and neither of the cars could then be sold for profit...i limited myself to realistic options (no ferraris ect) so here goes. r34? no, im not really a fan jza80? no, i had the option a while ago to straight swap for a manual tt jza80 before i put the big turbo on my soarer and i eventually decided id rather have my soarer, the soarer is just a better car. is200 w/1j? nah, im not that much of a fan of them..they feel too small and too cheap inside...and they just look to normal and boring. rx8? maybe...but it would have to be an extremely modded rx8...that said i dont really like rotarys so probably not anyway. 350z? definately not, i just dont like these things at all. so what would i rather have within reason? the only thing i could think of other than the usual list of supercars and hypercars....would be a r35 gtr...i love these things...and they have serious potential. other than that maybe an ft86g, ive already decided ill buy one of these when toyota release them for sale in 2 years....that said, i probably wont sell the soarer to do so tho. i think ill keep the soarer as a daily and take the ft86 out on weekends..or visa versa..havnt decided yet. i guess the moral of the story is, i REALLY like my soarer and it would be pretty hard to persuade me to give it up for anything.

Honda NSX-R Why? Because they're rare and under rated. I'm just not a Euro Badge slave I'm afraid although don't get me wrong, the Ferrari's and Lambo's and the latest offerings from Audi are great but I see heaps of them around with their "look at me" day lights. I've seen more Ferrari's on than the humble Honda. I despise Mercs and BMW's they're too common on the road regardless the model and the drivers think they're king d!ck. Aston Martin's or the old school Jags mmmm yummy.
