Honestly - it's cheaper to buy the Twin Turbo Supra. Brakes, Gearbox, are different, not to mention the engine. It's probably cheaper and easier to drop in a GTE. The GE 2J runs distributor cap ignition system for instance, and when I had my 2JZ-GE, I was lucky in that it had a set of Nology Hotwires (Not available in Australia) Much easier to get ignition system upgrades for the 2JZGTE I'm not saying don't go NA/T, it just involves a little more effort.

As James said if you want a turbo supra buy one! Its not that much more expensive in most cases to buy a tt supra over a na and they come with so many more goodies, not to mention being factory turbo. Seems illogical to buy a NA version of a car that comes in turbo then convert it to turbo. What makes this car so special??

You need the ecu up grade.the standard ecu dosn't regonise postive/boost pressure and will not let you boost over 5psi. Don't forget if you are looking at running high boost you'll need to run a thicker head gasket to lower the compression.
Its a pretty strait forward job and only took me a couple of days.

Too right. It will just chuck it into limp home mode.
But you'll have to be careful about what cheap chinese turbo manifold you end up buying. Same goes for the turbo. Warren had a good suggestion with the 1.5JZ, that way you can use the 1JZ head & intake manifold which should be alot easier to find aftermarket support for.
Don't quote me on this though, I've never looked into any of this sort of stuff. I am a member on supra forums though, and from what I read, they are always telling people just to buy the TT from the outset rather than go NA/T or drop in a GTE.
I suppose it is a rewarding process though, you learn alot, and the transformation is awesome!

yer rewarding i defintly is, but its not the ideal way to go.shipping to tassie is a arm and a leg, if this wasnt the case i would have gorn the 2jzgte my self.just buy a local half cut and do the 2jzgte.you won't regret it and by the time your done you would have about spent the same cash.
