Hey thinking of doing some work on my soarer.
have done the BFI.

my question is whats is worth doing that isn't going to cost me my soul.

apart from the bfi and wheels everything is stock to my knowledge

thanks in advance

A nice exhaust setup? could involve a resonator delete or a whole setup including headers - depends how much you have to spend.

You can then also look at suspension, bushes, and a limited slip diff. Don't forget good brakes either.

Lots of what I have mentioned dosn't come cheap by the way! haha

Yeah no mods past resonantor deletion will come cheap, for instance my full exhaust setup was $2900

Are you after performance mods or cosmetic mods?
Not much more you can do performance wise on the cheap other than the BFI.
But other cheap mods worth doing are removal of the reverse beeper and door chime.

both but i was asking about performance sorry for not making this clear.

i guess on the V8 the next step would be the exhaust

Could replace the caps in the ECU. It may not give the same performance gain as you would see in a TT, but you MIGHT gain a bit of power and a bit of fuel economy.

There is nothing you can do apart from intake on the V8's that will be cheap.

Next Step is Headers + Exhaust then look into some sort of solution for Tuning/Management.

yeah i thought that's is what i would have to do. should i start from the headers or the muffler end.

i assume headers = performance
mufflers = sound

Same value, the capacitors when they get old tend to leak and not function properly. Thus performance and fuel economy may be effected.
As for the exhaust, i would highly recommend starting from the headers or even better, doing it all at once.
If you do a cat back exhaust it will need to be modified to fit the headers, same deal with the current exhaust.
Headers do give better performance but they also change the sound as the engine is breathing easier. Mufflers will also give a performance boost, less restrictive air flow = more performance. So to answer the question both give performance and sound upgrades.

Thats right, All the small worthwhile mods are already standard on our hi tech V8s. Not much more to improve on

I would only buy a V8 soarer if it had a whipple or Twin Screw blower on it and about 350rwhp :-)

Word.

If I was to buy a Soarer I could only go the TT or T route, the V8s are just too slow without boost. Only took me 4 V8s to realize that.

Massive potential with the v8s guys so you shouldn't knock them.

Cameron, to get back on topic no n/a car can make big power increases without either a lot of work or a lot of money spent on it. Do what I said and get a tt diff which will help you get off the line quicker, other than that your only option for a good dollar/horsepower ratio is NOS but that can't be used on the street.

Money is what it comes down to with this really.

A few grand on a V8 soarer is only going to push a V8 a bit closer to 300hp if your lucky.

You would surely get 350hp-400hp out of a few grand if you spend wisely with a TT/T... I suppose?

I second that. Quite an improvement.
