New to soarer central? Been here for years? Picked up a Twin Turbo for peanuts? Well, lets list some dirt cheap mods that really payout, preferably under $500 Ill start with my favourite: 1. Sway Bars $430-$500 Why: Most excellent handling increase, instantly notable. }

Slotted rotors front and rear. Price wise just the rotors you could get away for under $500. Great stopping power with these, Best mod ive done so far.

Include the price guys! Shift kit IS an awesome BFYB mod, be under $500 installed by a mechanic eh? Sure does improve that sluggish shift!

Brake master cylinder brace. $50-100 to buy from ebay etc. 3 bolts to install. $10 to make yourself out of mild steel (requires some welding) or I have seen a very nifty device made from aluminium angle (no welding) Increases pedal feel and braking confidence. Make the most of what you have.

If we are talking TT, then a second hand set of dumps can be had for $500 odd. You would need to fit them yourself to get under $500. Also, a fuel cut defender for $50-100 if you are hitting boost cut. New bushes from any of the OEM quality rubber bush suppliers on these forums. Once again you'd need to fit them yourself.

Ebay? Where? I haven't seen anything for a soarer except the Carbing version which is optional for the strut brace.

This one? For a Supra, it should work. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Toyota-Supra-93-98-JDM-Master-Brake-Cylinder-Stopper-/390293356276?pt=Motors_ Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5adf4bfef4

I think the postage, overhaul and fluids came to pretty much $500.. I did it DIY by myself on a set of ramps in a garage.. |

BFI!! cost me $30 all up with spares to make a second. A mod for the cheap's- grab a drill and drill piece and start drilling those stock mufflers so it doesn't sound like a prius. Have to agree with the shift kit, makes a great difference.

Put a cooler in it, mine cost under $400 i went from a 14.7 std to a 13.7 with cooler, 14psi and dumping exhaust,(two bolts at tranny pan and push to one side) then went 13.3 with shift kit. pb now 12.50 with only shift kit, cooler, fcd, boost controller. About $1200 all up. 325rwhp as well.

Not performance orientated, but my HID retrofit cost me about $350 all up and I can see at night now, way better than my plug n play HID kit.

I dream of being able to see at night in any toyota with projector headlights Even my 40 series camry is useless at night. HiD should be standard. One mod that saves a lot of weight, lowers the centre of gravity, but mostly gives 6'4" guys with sunroofs a chance to sit up straight: JZA80 Supra front seats. Selling from $250 to $400 for fabric seats on the forums. Wreckers want $500 + !!!!

Some have been said but: 1. Swaybars- easily under $500, instant handling gains 2. Master Cylinder Stopper- $50 used, 2 minute install- better brake feel. 3. Coilovers- may get lucky and find used ones for sub $500.. i have previously bought 3 sets under $500.. Tein HR, HKS, Tein HR- every car needs decently stiff adjustable coilovers. 4. Auto tranny cooler- preserve your slush box.. easy to set up for sub $100 5. Decent brake pads- i use Lucas.. dusty but stop well..(if you care about brake dust dirtying your hektik chrome rims.. dont get them) 6. for the TT- bleed valve/FCD (dont go spastic, the factory cooler is beyond completely useless above 14psi) 7. FMIC- get a cheap $179 600x300x76 and adapt piping to suit.. should easily manage this sub $500 if you have some mech skill and degree of dodgyness 8. Exhaust- seen plenty of 2nd hand kits going for sub $500.. keep in mind that opening up the factory exhaust will raise boost a touch.. 9. Decent bucket seat.. that will do for now. Stomps

| for me the primary difference is the reduction of bodyroll.. keeping the car flatter through corners. at the front this means better bite into corners and better turn in..it prevents the car from just loading up the outside wheel and taking all the load off the inside.. unless you adjust too tight, which has a tendency to increase understeer. a decent adjustable rear bar can help control oversteer.. eg, i set my rear bar to the stiffest setting, meaning the car will be more likely to slide, rather than roll.. same principle as the front in terms of load distribution, but this time having an effect on power delivery.. the above are mainly feel things... a practical example of this: when i jack my car up i using the factory jacking point on one side, both sides rise at almost the same rate.. my setup is currently: Biggest whiteline bar available rear: set to tightest Biggest whiteline bar available front: set to loosest.. i toyed with the other 2 settings, but found the understeer was too much for my liking.. hope that helps.
