I am wondering if anyone could help me with my soarer, It has fault coming up on dash that translated reads engine electrical problem. Looking for someone who knows what to check for or someone with a spare ecu to try and see if the problem is the ecu.

is the car actually working/running?
i dont think its the crank angle sensor, or has anything to do with that. crank angle sensor is just sensor that detects if the crank is spinning.
rpm is normally gathered from the -neg side of the coil. as our soarers don't have coils and distributors i'm not to sure where it gets the signal from. most likely the ignitor.

yes car runs . just drives slow like its in limp mode. It wont boost at all. I drove it to craigieburn from ballarat today. i thought the crank angle sensor was what gave the car the timing for spark. I have come from a rotary background and thats how it works with them.

Have you done anything to the car recently?
The first thing I would do is find those two sensors, and make sure that they're plugged in and clean etc, and that the wires that go towards them haven't been chopped/falling out/damaged.
A quick search on the forum of efi 13 shows up a few threads related to the cam sensor.
I have only just purchased the car. It has been in limp mode since i got it. I think i know where the sensors are. on the passenger side of the car just below a little breather valve from the cam cover, there is wat i believe is one. and it seems to be very oily and greasy. its hard to get to to undo it, i got some crc n sprayed it. giving it a few minutes now before i plug battery back in and try again
still no good. looking into getting some cam position sensors. Are they different from front to back?? also next time i have a play ill trace the wires back to ecu and make sure they arent stuffed. The timing seems fine. I took the cam pulleys off and the belt looks fine too. Thats pretty much it. I am out of ideas after ive tried these. been researching as much as i can. If i cant solve it by next weekend i will be taking it to a mechanic.

you might need to pull off the cam covers and make sure the timing is all good, a quick google search shows a few V8 people have trouble with error code 13 when the timing is out by a tooth
maybe just whip the top cam cover off and make sure the cams a lining up at TDC (top dead center)
the cam cover is off and i can see the white lines on the cam pulleys from when its had the belt done. they line up. yer i have been searching flat out. started checking stuff today. ill check more next weekend.
hopefully i will have two cam sensors on the way soon. Will try that when they arrive. if its not that then i may think about taking it to be looked at.
hey matchy. thanks mate but i have already got one. I just need a new timing belt and waterpump and i can start the fun. Do you know anywhere that keeps these parts in stock?? What is the tool you have?? What is it for??
