you see many references about "tune ups"

What is a tune up on these cars?

I have replaced timing belt, plugs, leads, rotors and dist caps and air filter. I believe the only "tune up" left is the caps in the ECU.

Am i missing something?

Thanks for not being offended Tom.
Crikey, how do you manage that anyway. I mean, 3 under 5?

mike, 2 and 5 yr old from my daughter, 3 yr old via the son. had them a couple of days a wk since about 8wks old.

Varies from good fun to very trying.

I put techtron 5000 thru every year. car runs great good ecomony etc. But i was curious about the references to a "tune up", as i put everything i have done down as "scheduled maintainance."

I will look to clean the the throttle body .

i'd say tune-up is just an older reference to a service/scheduled maintenance. id guess it would go back to more carby days where it required some one to tune the engine, aka timing, idle rpm and the rest back when cars where more mechanical rather then computer controlled.

Yeah unless you go an aftermarket computer and get it tuned to a map. Stock ecu's are self tuning. Take the battery terminals off and put them back on for a retune on a stockie ecu.
