I recently attended a test and tune on the 9th of july at willowbank raceway to run my tt soarer down the strip. It had been at least 18 mths since my last time, so after putting close to 100k on my car driving to and from work everyday i wanted to see if it could still run the same times. Only change to car was a 100k service and a trans cooler.
After running 12.9 then two 12.8's i was starting to wonder if i was going to get my old time. On one of my last runs i managed a 1.8 60ft and 12.53 @ 107.4 mph. So after 100k of road use and a total of 215k on the clock the old soarer is still going strong! The best part was the car racing me was a new ve maloo ute with cam package ect which ran a 12.8 (manual). But almost 100k worth of car vs 10k, soarer bang for buck..
It was also good to see a few other soarer's there on the night. Paul with his purple v8 weapon posting 12 sec et's with lazy 60ft's. The panda was also there running in the mid 13 sec zone. Also worth a look was a 2jz 35r cressida and a 1jz 35r black hilux running in the 12's. There's a quite a few good pics on dragphotos.com.
Maybe we should organise a drag day somtime this year and get a big turnout of soarers with various levels of performance. Just an idea..
