hey all

for those who have a manual soarer and reckon their old gear surround has seen better days and doesn't want to pay toyota's $200 fee for a new one, i found this place which does the exact same genuine factory unit for $66...

Good find, i'm using a auto shifter surround for my manual shifter and the thing is about to die from me slamming into it. Now to just work out where to relocate the TEMs button, but find a cigarette ash holder/cover thing in black.

Awesome, I've been looking for a decent one for a while, the surround is alright on ours but the boot is in tatters...

Are they charging $200 for a new one these days? I got mine for $80 from Castle Hill Toyota. This was a few years ago though...

For those that are interested, shipping to 6107 (WA, Cannington) is $14.30 for ExpressPost, $16.50 for RegisteredPost (Why the express is cheaper is beyond me...). Since they are from QLD I would guess shipping over east would be cheaper?

So all up for me $80.30, 30c more than ^

That's just a ballpark figure Yang. I purchased it years ago so I don't remember how much I paid. $80 is still an awesome price for it.

I believe Registered Post will give you:
  • proof that the article was sent (when lodged at the post office counter)
  • proof that the article was received - a signature is obtained on delivery
  • a unique identification number for every article
  • compensation for loss or damage of the article up to $100 for a standard registered delivery
The above was stolen from the Australia Post website by the way lol

Yeah i called up a toyota dealer in adelaide and he said that will be $190 delivered from japan and i said seeya later!

it comes packaged with genuine toyota stickers etc, really happy with it! I also figured it might be easier for some to order theirs online than go through toyota.

haha yang, i painted my surround last week (really should have put a clear coat over it) but it still came up looking fantastic compared to the normal grey.

Ian, depending on how many they have it might take a while (2 weeks for me, they were on back order) but its definitly worth the wait!

Im not sure spencer, they must be?

That's weird I only paid $84 shipped from castle hill toyota.$200 seems a bit much for a piece of plastic , would rather have a big hole than pay that

too true mark, thats why i tried to source somewhere different. I didn't really believe him at first, but the same place tried to charge me $200 for 4 strut dust boots... So I jumped online and had a quick look and Ian Sullivan and his brother, i think run Kudos, they are big on the skylines aus website. Came to $80.30 including express postage, which i was happy to pay.

Bought one, couldn't be bothered chasing down Castle Hill for a saving of only $10-20.

Didnt know there was such a thing as a manual surround with the TRC button.... certainly on the VVTi cars the button is not on the surround it is on the dash under the steering column

the standard button doesn't seem to fit in the holes under the dash though. i had rough play around with trying to get my auto TRC button in there and it was no go.
