a mate with a TT has put a small amount of power steering fluid into the brake master cylinder.
He is now having problems with the pedal going to the floor. His mechanic has told him the power steering fluid will settle on the bottom ,and destroy the seals.

yes the power steering will swell the brake seals.. damage is probably already done. will probably need calipers rebuilt and also master cylinder.. ive had a few people do that before to cars. the oil swells the seals and seizes the caliper pistons and master cylinder.. expensive mistake whoever put the oil in the brake fluid

thks aaron, he is now in the process of bleeding all the brakes. Do the seals return to normal after "being flushed" with brake fluid, or are they stuffed.
I guess his options are rebuild all slaves and the master, or find a good 2nd hand set and replace the lot.

Nope, Seals are all Factus, as are the rubber flex hoses out to the wheels.
Master and wheel cylinders need to be stripped, flushed and rebuilt with new seals, and the flex lines need to be replaced, or it's likely he will have a brake line failure down the track, possibly whilst needing to stop quickly from high speed.
