hey guys, yes, it's true a 1UZ powered car has been nominated for SMOTY, in the world of yank pushrod engined powered Elite show cars a little 1UZ powered Ford Capri street car got nominated in the Top 16. the car is 100% registered, engineered and street driven. it's even driven to the track and raced, not trailered and it runs a pretty fast 8.20@166mph. bit about the car 1970 Ford Capri 1UZ ported heads, block & crank Custom Cams Argo Rods Ross Pistons Twin GT35/40's makes 900rwhp(670rwkw)@30psi on E85 by the time and mph its showing 1150hp/860kw @ the engine.
we would love if the Lexus/Toyota community got behind us and voted for the car. not being an Elite show car and being powered by a Jap engine is not going to get us much love from your typical Street Machine reader i have included the link to vote if you would like to, you can also read the Street Machine article on the car, another link is provided on that page http://smoty.com.au/comps/smoty2011/viewmachine.aspx?Code=MI10

thanks guys, appreciate all the votes. would be great to see a street car win, let alone a UZ powered one
Dave, the Buick V6 is still a good swap, was one racing in US Pro Stock many moons ago and caused a big stir. the 1UZ's weren't released till really late in the 80's.

hey guys, trying to score a few last minute votes for the Capri. voting ends 10am October 18th. you can vote online at http://smoty.com.au/comps/smoty2011/viewmachine.aspx?Code=MI10 or if u live in Australia you can text CAPRI to 19955803 ( however the text costs 55c, if you're looking at a way to get back at someone,by giving them a big phone bill this is always a good way )
we took the car out the weekend before last and had some fun cruising around. here's one of the cruise sessions at the Supernats a couple weeks ago, cruising around Eastern Creek, we went out 5 or 6 times, got a good 40+ laps of the creek on Saturday, rained on Sunday so the event was called off. had a set of Toyo 295's on the back, they couldn't handle the punishing 200+km/h powerskids. the brakes, turbo covers and tyres barely survived the weekend.
here's the Capri and a few other mates having a couple races in the off-street racing. if the sound coming out of the RX7 sounds familiar, it's because it is a 1JZ with a 67mm turbo, stock as a rock engine makes 450rwhp 25psi. the owner and my other brother did the conversion a year or so back, was only tuned the friday before http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E6rHwn4QNZA

Fitzgerald's FC Holden (tho yu already know now lol). it had to be a Holden couldn't go 2 years without a Holden winning it. as yu said Danny earny some respect for the car and the engines for what they are capable of.
