Just starting a thread to see which would be a better buy, on stock condition, it appears that the 1JZ VVT-i (Single Turbo) pack more power as compared to the 2JZ VVT-i (SC300 NA).
What i am asking here, which engine would be easier to do light mods (nothing fancy such as huge turbos, just ECU and stuffs) and probably if anyone has any other inputs to this topic could suggest something.

I went on a cruise when I first got my Soarer, and it was around 2009. We went down the Great Ocean road. A white 2J vvti came along, and at no stage was he lacking power. It had coilovers, and a nice sounding exhaust, out of corners it was plenty quick and had no troubles keeping up with the V8's and 1J's.
A friend has an Aussie delivered GS300 with the 2J vvti, and it hauls @rse for a 3.0 NA engine.
That said, if you're wanting to wind the wick up, or seriously smoke the tyres, search for a vvti 1J.

In saying that Scott, I would have thought there would be plenty of options for both engines?? Or is one more popular than the other( I am a V8 man), but would love to have either of these options in my shed.
1JZ VVTi for overall performance, the 2J is a good base to work on (visit NA-T.com) as the engine is very similar to the GTE with exception to oil squirters, intake manifold, compression (N/A compression + turbo = awesome!)
Personally I'd pick the 1J as it's ready to go and the standard single (CT15b) turbo can withstand a good 250rwkw.

but the 2jz n gte is pretty much ready to go just drop it in all you pretty much need is the loom and a management, for my car already have that stuff so it is just drop in,
but ive heard you can get a 2jz engine and put the 1gz block in or vise versa? something similar to that anyway
Thanks for the inputs people, yeah i guess i'm going ahead with the 1J as what christian mentioned, its a ready to go set up and i'm not that hardcore of a fan of that much power up till 400 bhp (although having a 1001 hp veyron would be nice.
Just need something with a fair amount of power, decent on fuel, good for cruising in and has the power when i need it (sometimes when i want to feel the "adrenaline rush").
