my son drove his car for ages with the error message on the dash and the pump running continously due to no pressure in the accumulator.
The brakes worked "normally". From what i have read and how the brakes worked on my sons car, I believe the accumulator is only for TRC/ABS, and not normal breaking.(maybe the pump still has an effect without pressure in the accumulator?)
i ask this question because i believe i can get rid of the error message, and also stop the pump running with a couple of "by passes"
bypass 1 , remove the error message bypass 2 , stop the pump operating
what are your thoughts?

The accumulator/pump is the brake booster, as well as operating with the TRC.
The brakes WILL NOT work without it. (ever tried to brake a normal car without the engine running?? TRC soarer is the same without the pump operating).
The running pump should have provided enough pressure to provide the booster assistance that brakes need.
Get an accumulator from soarerparts.com and fix it properly.

looks like you can only get rid of the error message, and must leave the pump running.
better than nothing i suppose.
(may be a cheap fix, replace the unit with a non TRC master cylinder, leave the loom in and do the by passes.)
As said earlier i have fixed my sons car and have just been "playing" around for a solution to a "common problem" (I have pulled the old accumulator apart, put new seals in and fitted an aircon valve to the top. i will look at getting it pressurized and see if it holds to keep as a spare)

Just buy a brand new one. Brakes aren't just putting your life at risk, but also the other people that your car hits when the brakes don't work properly.
