Not being rude, but Shannon isnt of "mature" age. Cars details are dodgy as well. UZZ31 with a 2JZ?? I am with Shannons, but Just Cars do a reasonable price for young people as well.

NRMA is currently the cheapest for me
NRMA told me they don't insure "imports". Mine is through Elders, about $65/month, dropped a little when I moved from WA (less cyclone risk, maybe less 'roo risk too).

I am with Shannons. Insured as a "big boys toy." Low usage, weekend use only. Over 50 with 65% NCB. I think it cost me $300 for a $10,000 agreed value. No complaints.

That sounds like good value, Vincent. I spoke to Shannons ages ago when looking for insurance and I couldn't get past first base as no garage. I have one now- but too small for a Soarer anyway! I checked NRMA (online quote) and they were slightly higher than what I pay Elders- with a higher excess ($800 against $500- it was $250 in WA). That's with no windscreen cover which is another $55pa.

Dave, only difficulty I find with Shannon was they wouldn't agree on a value of more than $10,000 for my 1992 Uzz31 with no additional bells & whistles. Still I am happy with the deal.
Yours is a 97 with some extras so it is worth that extra $40.

The car I had was a uzz31 with a 2jzge (bought the car for cheap and as i'm on my p plates we just found a cheap engine and chucked it in) i now have a 1994 1jz. I have another year a bit on my P plates, but have an exemption so I can drive a high powered car. I'm 22 years old and a female, (i got my license late). I have noticed racq dont even list the soarer which sucks, just car wanted $1200 a year for full comp. I've never had an accident, I drive pretty much all day for my job.

Shannon, Just Cars quote isnt too bad IMHO. My daughter(23) has her VT Clubsport with Shannons(mainly as I have been with them for years) I think she pays about $1,400 per year for a $15,000 agreed value. Because she modded the car, CGU dumped her. She has a clean history.

I currently am with LSV insurance (formerly called TORQUE Insurance) since I bought my Soarer totally stock back in 07, (when I was 28)was around $770 back then with an agreed value of 13k... compared to quotes I was getting from Just Cars of $1200 I think back then.... now with LSV its 12.7k for just under $900 a year full comp. 65% NCB and including ALL glass covered not just windscreen and my choice of repairer. I've been pretty happy with them so far but since they swapped over from torque to Lsv my premium has gone up even though I'm getting older wtf? lol
I might get a quote with Shannons next year though when its time to renew my policy, just to compare and see if they can give me a better deal

Hey Guys,
Could probably shed some light on this for you. If you're under 25, 1st call I'd make is to Shannons, if they like you it'll be a pretty hard quote to beat and as far as comp cover goes (personal opinion) they are the best in the Aussie market. 2nd call would be Just Car... more expensive but at least they'll take you on board, not a bad product either but they have pretty hardcore excesses, but imports, mods aren't a problem. Exceptions - unless you've got a clean accident/driving history for the last five years and a fair bit of business or tenure with a certain insurance company... you're not going to have too much luck.
Over 25... I'd still be calling Shannon's first. Otherwise, I'd call where ever you've got the rest of your stuff insured and check with them first. I know Suncorp are nationwide insurers and will take you on board (you will pay for it though...), so if you're switched on you'd call them before contacting you're own insurer to say you can get it for these people at this price... blah blah.
