I went to Detroit and saw the beast(LF-LC)in person. I will say it's rather stunning up close.
The headlamps and grille work better than expected when you see it, and the combination of surfaces they achieved with the exterior design is unlike anything I've ever seen. The long hood reminds the of the Soarer when standing in front of it. Something cool that the photos don't show off to well is the tail lamps - they look like endless tunnels, and make you want you reach your hand inside if were it possible. Another interesting detail is a subtle 'calty design' badge on the fender just in front of the door.
Is it the next SC? Who knows - but it's definitely a proper coupe from Lexus.
