Hey guys, as the title says I was wondering how much I would be looking at if I sold my car.
The reasons and info. The timing belt has just shredded in it whilst I was driving home from work and has done a bit of damage which the garage is yet to tell me the full extent of, but has probably bent the valves. The EMV screen is touch only and the speakers on the left hand side don't work(possibly earth issue as DSP works).
It is FSG colour and spruce/leather interior, (driver seat is ripped).
Obviously it isn't running but I was thinking of selling it for someone to either fix themselves or part out.

Hmmmm I hope he is a good genuine mechanic, they can jump on opportunities such as this an really rip you off.
Make sure you check what work he quotes before you let him do any of it, perhaps even show us back here...
To get an idea, I bought a genuine Toyota Cam belt/Water pump kit, all the parts, bearings, tensioner, belts, gaskets, coolant etc and it totaled just over $700 NZD, but I did the work so saved on labour.. and these were all OEM Japanese made parts.

Its possible the broken belt may have done some damage to the timing gear but fairly unlikely. If the motor was at high RPM when it broke then its more likely, plus there is a possibility if there was any valve float at high revs that the pistons and valves may have come into contact - again, fairly unlikely as you would have noticed the car was not running properly at high revs.
Most likely a new timing belt, tensioner and water pump and it'll be back to normal again.
