No im not an expert at all, but if you expect someone to sit in or drive a production car before concluding it is fast there is a problem there... Seeing as though there are videos, reviews and other resources documenting more information one could derive from a thrilling joy ride, i dont see the need.

Ahhhhh ok so you are another 18 year old keyboard riding armchair expert with 200hp. OK well I see there is no point continuing this. Obviously everything you see in videos or read in a magazine is the truth... and actual experience counts for nothing.

Review the Le Mans rules. You will find the GT2 car has more than a little in common with the road car.

Cihan Aday wrote on Sunday, January 08, 2006 - 06:49 pm:

As for handling, compared to other cars in its class, a standard, non-Lemans version Dodge Viper doesnt handle well at all.

And you can tell that having never sat in one while it's moving and never been in one on a track? Wow, you sure do know a lot of stuff.

So the Veyron has a huge development budget does it? I would actually think a car like the 911, that Porsche has been working on for like 40 years, or the Corvette - around 20 years as a serious racer, would have had a tad more spent on them. Hell, the Viper is even up to its 3rd generation, it wouldn't surprise me if it has had a bigger budget over the years.

The last thing I will say about this without getting into a 'this car is better than that car' discussion is i think the veyron is an engineering marvel because it rolls out of the factory with those figures. Le Mans racers/1000 hp Supras or Vipers don't and have had extensive aftermarket modifications to get them to the point they are at. Many cars can put out impressive figures if you have enough money for big tubos/blowers or whatever. So its the fact that you can now buy a stock 16 cylinder quad turbo car that is the great part about the veyron, despite the horrendous cost.

I think the other big point with the Veyron is that it does all this while still being very usable for every day driving, and easy to drive hard - refined even! I'm sure most aftermarket modded Vipers et al would drive you nuts as an every day "drive it to work in traffic" car. Even most competing Supercars can't claim that. Yeah, I know thats not the point of them, but I still think its impressive that apparently anyone can drive the Veyron and drive it hard without really knowing what they are doing.

Ok let me just say and I am an armchair warrior, I would take the bugatti just because it is the most amazing looking car I have ever seen! But WTF who would pay that much for either the Bugatti or the Viper? Viper would be much nicer for I don't know everyday use, if you could call having a super car everyday use?
Bah why argue over cars we will never have? Still I would love to go round the Top gear track in that suzuki thingo!!!

Heh, with petrol prices in NZ up to $1.45 per litre for 95, and $1.50 for 98... well I'd be waiting until I could pay cash for the Viper (at that point, I guess petrol prices really don't bother you any more...)

Yeah, it was called Viper!

No way in hell I would ever get a loan for any car. The only reason to get money loaned to you is if you can make more on the money than you pay in interest. And that's not likely with a car.

There was a '94 Viper for sale here a little while ago for $100k. I reckon I could land a '00 on the road here for that.

Incidentally, I am going to America in April

I said its a backyard job in comparison.
If you open the English dictionary and look the damn word up - there is the solution to all your frustration.

Theres no need to go off other versions of the car. We are talking about the 1000hp models you mentioned. Unless of course theres a button on the dash that makes them a GT2 car on demand, you know, like the truck in "Transformers"?

No one said experience counts for nothing. How does being in a car and thinking its the end all be all of cars change the fact that it isnt. Just because in your experiance, a Viper handles well enough - the fact of the matter remains; It's not the best handling car compared to other cars in its class.
Waaaait a minute.... you must have driven all these other high performance cars we're talking about to make such a comparison? let me take a wild guess, your a Top Gear copy-cat and you've got your own show, your own times post and your own private test track where all you do all day is test drive porsche's and ferrari's to destruction?

I thought so...

If im just an 18 yo keyboard warrior, dont get so upset. Its a public forum ffs, we dont come here to give younger people attitude because we're afraid they might be right.

You need to accept that a supercar like the Veryon produces 1000hp and it does it better than an aftermarket supercharged Viper would.
It would cruise at 400kph+, accelerate to 400kph+ and handle at 400kph+ better than a supercharged Viper would. Ground up, radiators, wings, quad turbos and all - thats what its been designed to do.

What has/have the aforementioned Viper/s been designed to do?
8litres of pushrod boof to satisfy the American 'bigger is better' philosophy.
Am i wrong?
Does the phrase 'only milk and juice comes in 2litres' tingle a brain cell?

Theres no argument here.. lets move on.

Luv a few things about the Veyron...

100 litre tank......drive it flat out it lasts for 12 minutes...!!

8 radiators..........LOL

Power guage on dash ......pure wank....

I think some of you people are missing the point of the Bugatti some what...

It was built on a premise.....a bet if you like...the boss of VW bet he could build a 1000HP supercar...many doubted him and around 5-6 years of development. And now i stand in awe.

This car will be the most important new car at least in this decade.

Khme Richard, 1001HP. Its understandable that you could get that fact incorrect though; i will let you off this time.. ;)

The styling of the Veyron is something else as well.. Words cannot explain the admiration i have for the interior of that car.
