I drove my Soarer over from Adelaide to Perth (another story!), and am looking at registering in WA (without inspection).
They require the tare weight of the vehicle and they say they only accept proof from the cars handbook if not mentioned on the previous state registration (tare weight not required in SA).
I've explained to Transport WA that I don't own a handbook, that it's in Japanese anyway, and said that I can provide 3 x different pieces of hardcopy proof from websites like Soarer Central, Wikipedia etc which clearly state the tare weight of the vehicle.
The WA Transport person I spoke to was adamant in that I needed to take the car to a weighbridge to get weighed, which is a real hassle and extra expense. From what I understand you only have to prove it weighs less than 4500 kgs so why all the bureaucracy!!
But then I speak to a work colleague who said that when he registered his SA Subaru with Transport WA he also didn't have a handbook and they simply rang up the Dealer from where he bought his Subaru in SA, and accepted the tare weight over the phone.
Can anyone offer any assistance and/or their experiences in registering Interstate vehicles in WA, particularly Soarers, whilst not having a handbook with the tare weight clearly mentioned?
Many thanks...
