Its a bit like the Chev badges on Commodores. In the US, they put Holden badges on the G8, and such.

I would love a VVTI V8 Lexus SC400. I keep dreaming of getting one, and Swapping all the parts over into a Soarer. I know it would be a huge job, and expensive, but what a car. Only problem is they are still bringing big $s in the US.

I like to do things different to others. Blown 1uzs are common. I like the idea of the VVTI V8.

+1 Ian, Given what I've learned/learnt with the 1UZ E36 swap a VVTI 1UZ into a Z30 Soarer would be walk in the park. The only problem is finding a good body to start with. I'd be inclinded to use a late model JZZ31 with under 100ks and add all the bits in to make a mint UZZ30-Limited. Only problem with that would be it would require a certification for the swap going 2JZ to 1UZ. However going 1UZ to 1UZ VVTi would not.

Certainly the cost of a late JZZ31 would be the way to go. Plenty of them out there. In my state(South Australia), you need an approval in principle that allows you to do the swap(providing they are happy with the idea, and then an inspection of the final job. I have done quite a few of these over the years, and have not had any problems. May have to go TT brakes, but as long as the emissions gear from the year of the transplant engine is in tact, and working, no dramas. A good VVTI front cut isnt all that expensive(Late Lexus LS400)

Yeah you could use the front brakes from a VVTi LS400 swap if they are still on the half cut. I did this on my last soarer.

At the moment, its 30 years in backwards South Australia And yes Mike, the half cuts I have seen still have the 4 pot brakes on them. Can pick up a front cut for around $2,500-3,000.
