so i've had my soarer for almost 2 weeks now.
i filled it right up when i got it, (78 litre tank i think)

and i've just emptied this tank and only got 370KM's out of it driving sensibly with maybe around 6 or so times i decided to fang it for a few seconds.

is this normal consumption or is something wrong?
maybe i should go back to my motorbike haha

That's very heavy. Something is wrong. Most blokes would hit 600kms out of the big tank unless its got big injectors and turbo.

How many L did you actually put in? You said you "emptied" it, was that all the way down to the 5L fuel warning or just the 9L low fuel light?

Regardless that is pretty poor consumption, the missus gets about 15-16L/100 around town which equals ~450km before the 9L light comes on, and that is with a PowerFC @ 16psi, full exhaust/intake and front-mount, entirely in city driving - on the freeway it can get down to ~9L/100. That's with the 5-speed though, I imagine an auto would be a bit different.

Scott: it has stock turbos as far as i know (think i saw toyota on them) and i have no idea about injectors but i'd say they are stock too..

Ian: umm, i put in about 68 litres but it did say i had 11 left at the time so assume it is the 78L tank.. i filled right up so i could see the liquid in the pipe. and yes i got the warning last night..

okay, so something is wrong! haha i'm going to recap the ECU like i have seen in some threads (waiting on the capacitors in the mail)i don't know too much about cars as i've come from simple motorbikes, but i'm pretty good at learning the technical things and i catch on fast!

Is there anything else i should look at? o2 sensor?

Yeah sounds like your on the right track mate...replace the caps in your ecu and then check your consumption again.
New O2 sensors are around $110 bucks if you decide to replace it.

Ethan, be careful with the heat when removing the old caps. They are old pcb's and you can lift tracks if not careful.

Hey Tom, (or anyone else) i've received all the caps, yet to even have a look at the PCB, I've done through hole double sided but you've scared me a little about it being old.. does anyone know of a place (or person) i can take it to so they can do the soldering if it looks like i can't do it?

Hey guys, pulled out my ECU to look at the caps, they look fine? and they are nichicon caps (good brand)

just wondering if the bad caps have already maybe been replaced on this board or not? or can anyone confirm that they came from factory with nichicons?

I've seen some issues caused by faulty ECU's but other issue than the capacitors.

Using that much fuel doubt its the o2 sensor. It's mostly being used for light throttle and crusing. Must be really rich to be getting economy that bad.

O2 Sensors can fail and give out Erroneous readings that confuse the ECU.

But if your O2 Sensor has never been replaced, do it and then see what sort of fuel economy your getting

Try change the fuel filter.

Try disconnecting the o2 sensor then. See if it gets better or stays the same. I disconnected mine and it only got a bit worse. Used about 5 litres more per tank. Check the basics as Boris said fuel filter and airbox. It's probably the ecu I think.

I really need some advice on a serious problem:

I have suspected for some time now that my wife has been cheating on me. The usual signs: if the phone rings and I answer, the caller hangs up; she goes out with the girls a lot.

I try to stay awake to look out for her when she comes home but I usually fall asleep.

Anyway last night about midnight I hid in the shed behind my Soarer. When she came home she got out of someone's car buttoning her blouse, then she took her panties out of her purse and slipped them on.

It was at that moment crouched behind the car that I noticed a hairline crack in the front bumper bar.

Is that something I can plastic weld or do I need to replace the whole bumper?
