Hi guys,

I thought I'd post this here as I wasn't sure if it's an electrical or mechanical issue.

Anyway, the other day, for the first time after it was tuned I gave it a couple of hard 0-100's and after the fourth or fifth time, it stalled.

When I turned it back on, the car felt weak like a lot of power was missing and it wouldn't rev over 3000. I tried searching online but it seems, everyone has had different solutions for this.

A couple of posts called it "limp mode" so I tried an ecu reset but that didn't help...so I have no idea what's going on :S

I have a spare coil if anyone thinks that could be it...the plugs are new and have been working well for a couple of weeks now so I don't think there were any issues with installation.

I also double checked the AFM plug is in correctly.

The car is a 97 UZZ31 turbo running an emanage ultimate.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers,
Hays

Run the diagnostic mode and see if it comes up with an error.

Hi Matchy, I believe that can't be done in the later models. I tried following the tute for EMV equipped v8s but it didn't work then more researched showed that the diagnostics feature was not the same in later models...correct me if I'm wrong?

your wrong

with the ignition on brige the te and e1 ports in diagnostic port in engine bay, just use a bit of wire/paperclip etc

go have a look at your dash, not the EMV, press the scroll button it will probably say something like EFI NG let it sit there a while and it will start throwing error codes at you

Hi Shane, I was talking about the other method of accessing diagnostics mode. With the key...doesn't work in later model Soarers. Having said that, the other method with the ports had completely slipped my mind! My bad

Anyway, I ran it and got the following.

Everything said OK except when I got to one that said "SUS NG"
then when I left it alone, it scrolled through the following sub-errors?
SUS 11
SUS 12
SUS 13
SUS 14
SUS 73

I'll do a google search for these but thought I'd post them anyway incase anyone has some experience :-)

Does it have anything to do with SUSpension? or is that just a stupid assumption? I installed a height controller a few days ago. It's been okay and it still works without issue as far as I can tell. If SUS is something else, please ignore my mumbling...

Thanks

Having said that...would air suspension faults throw the car in to Limp mode?

TRY this: turn the car on, hook up emanage to the laptop and run the software, if revs change (drop or increase). Something is up with your electrical systems. I had the same issue where emanage was sometimes "loosing it" and sending ECU into some sorta limp mode so it ran super rich (but never had rev restriction). Also check battery voltage when car is on

Hi Oleg, I havent used the software before. I'll install it and hook it up. Can you give me more details on how you hook check the revs in the software?

How'd your car go at Cihans that day you dropped it off? All good?

Its not that you check anything using the software, its a mere fact that EMU connects to the software that causes something to occur to alter the idle speed and injector firing duty (and if does occur, means something is wrong in general) in my case it was alternator issues caused by my awesome wiring skills. Did you check the charging voltage?

Yeah car went fine, apart from the electrical issues that I ended up fixing and putting in a Optima yellow top. Runs a bit hot so looking to get watermeth early next year, to advance the timing a little and maybe crack 200kw at the wheels. But instant boost sure does feel awesome.

Just to add to the above, it seems like EMU is very sensitive to voltage instabilities. But remember this is only one things that could be wrong with it.... you mentioned you getting SUS error.. did you try pulling the SUS fuse?

Hays,
Book in with Barry and we'll have a look at it. Sounds like electrical or mechanical.

Otherwise forward me an Emanage log of it happening and i'll check it out for you.

Give me a call when free.

Otherthing if it's piggy backing check your standard ecu.
May have damaged the stock ecu with the emanage or the stock ecu just needs recapping.
I had 1 recently do similar but was 1j

Hey guys, quick update, I took out the suspension height controller and reran diagnostics. The suspension errors all went away! Everything now says OK. I drove the car and it still seems to be in limp mode.

I reconnected the height controller and made sure it was hooked up properly. Again, running diagnostics showed everything was OK.

When I drove the car with diagnostics on, the only thing that would happen is that ABS and TRC didn't say OK until I put the car became stationary again. They just said "ABS --" and "TRC --". Is this normal while the car is being driven as these systems aren't activated until they are used?

Other than that, battery voltage is ok and I'm still working on getting an EManage log...

Cheers

Did you check the coils yet?
Disconnect 1 try and start the car, if it runs the same, reconnect and then disconnect the other, see if it runs again.
If it doesn't, swap out the other coil..

Hi guys, sorry for the late reply. Only just realised this was still here. It was all sorted out in the end. Turned out to be a cracked plenum. Had a friend weld me a new one and all is good now :-)
