Hi Guys,
I am thinking of buying a Soarer directly from Japan as a personal import. What do I need to do here first? I am sure a few of you have already walked this path. All advice most welcome.

Since you have not done it before - Use a reputable import agent. I don't recommend doing it yourself.

The agent will guide you through. Most import agent's website will have FAQs on their processes as well.

Do not think its worth doing any more ,by the time you pay for ferry ,compliance, lic etc. to many nice ones here cheaper and you can test

Compliance around $2200 + lic plates etc.

Plenty of nice Soarers for $7000

Yes, I looked in to this myself recently and the cars themselves are super cheap but then you need to add on approximately $5k in agent charges, GST, freight, compliance and rego. You would need a trusted agent in Japan who could assure you that the car is in good nick. Otherwise you are better off getting an RACV inspection here and buying locally.

I guess it's getting hard to find a completely untouched Soarer that importing one is the go. I know a guy that paid $50,000 to Import a Stock Turbo Supra last year reason being that it was just too hard to find one that wasn't in bad condition.
