i have a ELM 327 that i cannot get to operate on the vz commodore.

I have installed a blue tooth dongle to a usb port on my pc. I have set the incoming and outgoing ports to com2. I have set the ELM327 to com2 but cannot get any communication .

The pc is about 5-6M from the car. Is this distance too far for the ELM327. The bluetooth dongle is good for 50M.

further to the above, i paired the dongle with my phone. I also downloaded easyOBDII but same result no coms, same as with the software that came with the elm327.

Can't help with the above, Tom, but I would be a bit doubtful of Bluetooth having a range of 50m - Bluetooth is for short distance networking, so I would say a maximum of about 10m/30ft. I may be wrong, but I work in IT and to the best of my knowledge 50m for Bluetooth would be very unusual.

I will try it on a laptop where i can get the range down to 1m.

did not work with the laptop . same result.

Downloaded a free app to a smart phone and it works ok.

Does your PC need another program to complete the bluetooth communication between the OBD2 program and the scanner?

Ports are set the same for the scanner and the program, but no communication. It is like an interface program is missing?

The pc and obd lights on the scanner do not come on with the pc setup.
