What wont happen with a hot hatch? Almost all hot hatches made today will destroy a Soarer in every department bar the reliability / strength of engine.

I believe he means if you are average height or above, you will end up with your knees somewhere up by your ears in a hatch, compared to the comfort of a soarer.

So I thought the condom thing would get you all going. Its about personal preference. yes turbo,s are quicker. And a 20 year newer one will be quicker again. then a top end Porsche will be quicker again then a drag car will be quicker again then a jet plane will be quicker again. sorry forgot electric cars. right up there.(tesla) I guess the speed of light is the goal. I would think all soarers ,even 3.0 n/a still perform quite acceptable up against most modern cars, aren't we lucky we lucky we have such a choice of engines and options. even P platers are allowed to come out and play

Sorry Shane, two reasons for this. Did not like my English teacher much at school and my working life has been engineering. So any writing I do is probably power point. Looks funny writing like this .oh well probably still wrong. Now I have the big decision on wether to work on the soarer or join a Haiku writing forum. Whatever Haiku is. But in seriousness this thread has been such fun. I love how passionate people are about their soarers. And Shane I have to drag race you now. what running gear you got?

I want to bring this thread back to life. Wife and daughter were washing our cars today(4 of them got done), and one of them being my Soarer which is unregistered at the moment. I have a bit of trouble bending these days, so was sitting in a chair watching, and looking at my Soarer made me smile. As many cars as I have had, and still have, its by far the only car I still like. Bar the fact I have trouble getting in and out of it, it still does it for me. Have thought many times about selling it, and some of my other cars, and getting one late model of whatever brand, but not going to happen. Even thinking of selling 3 of my others, and getting a late VVTI Soarer as well as my 31.
Well... the wear on the front seats , steering wheel and drivers door trim on my 330,000K 31 ( which is pretty bad) I see in Soarers that are for sale with odometer readings of 130,00k or less??? I'm pretty sure I can remember when my Soarer was only 130,000Ks old the condition of the items above we're in very very good condition .

I remember looking at a jzx100 with 56,000kms that had been imported 3 years prior to sale. The gear knob and steering wheel had been replaced. The give away that it had a hair cut was the guy kept saying genuine kms look at the steering wheel. Also had suspension knock. They were a big company trying to sell it as the owners personal car as just a private sale. Very dodgy. Lesson is keep your eyes peeled and don't just trust the OD.

No Ian you are not crazy. With maturity (read 'age') we realise that happy isn't 'newer' or 'bigger'. Happy can be as simple as driving a 20 year old car that some designer/engineer created with much pride & passion. We who possess them have an appreciation of their toil. I'm in your boat.
